Title: Help me find some pants I want to wear.
Post by: pwndrew on July 14, 2008, 03:25:39 PM
So I just picked up an 848 and want to be more serious about gear. I would like a pair of pants NO LEATHER though that fit like skinny jeans or at least slim fit jeans. Does anyone know of a pair like this?

Very happy with my BMW City pants.  Should be what you're looking for.

I just got some Dainese Galvestone goretex pants; very nice fully armored, slim fit black pants with bottom ankle zipper for easy on and off. Had to get them from www.bimoto.be cuz no one in the US had them anymore, but even with the weak $ and shipping they were still a great deal for an awesome pair of pants.

Can I get a review of the BMW City Pants. I'm seriously considering them for my daily commute pants.

I have a pair for about 6 months now.  Thankfully, I can't report on how they do in a crash, but I wear them a lot for local riding.  One reason why I bought them is I am inseam challenged and they fit.  The knee armour has three height adjustments.  The pants are comfy on the bike, and, for pants with knee and hip armour, off the bike.  Like some other clothes they use the NP armour,  much more comfy than the conventional stuff.

They are also warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than Draggin' Jeans.  By BMW clothing standards they are good dollar value.

how's the fit? I'm 6'2, 200#s 34-36" waist. 32-34" inseam.

Since I am inseam challenged I can only predict for you.  I wear a small in the city pants and claim to wear a 32" waist, which is a bit optimistic, 34 would be more honest.  The knee armour will probably work for you in the lowest position.  The tailoring is snug, you may need a medium.  I suggest either go to a store where you can try them on or see if order a small and a medium and send back the one that doesn't fit.

Mine are  size large and they fit perfectly.  I'm a 36 - 32 kind of guy...   Love the pants I feel protected on the bike, and people does not stare while off the bike. They just look like cargo pants.

cooler than the draggin's? I might have to look into these.  I like my dainese drakes n'all, but they're a smidge warmer than the jeans....

Unfortunately they have been discontinued, but I just found the Teknic Warrior denim jeans are cut the way you are describing...

I guess they didn't sell very well, so they are no longer available in all sizes, just in closeouts in random sizing...

If you think about Teknic (at least I do) you think about all their baggy cut stuff, and that's what I would of assumed... Now I'm kicking myslef for not giving them a try earlier, because they wer exactly what I was looking for in a riding jean... Look very normal, cut like a real jean, not tapered or flapping all over, kevlar in the knees and butt...

I wear T-Pro forcefield knee pads under my jeans, so I don't need armor in the knees...

I just wish I could find more in my size... DOH!!!!! :(

I found the Teknic warrior jeans at Newenough.com today. A tad pricey at $73 w/shipping, but worth it if they save my a$$.
I'm 6'2", 200#, got the size 36.

The Shift "Lowdown" jeans are super comfortable and offer a bit more protection than regular jeans. I actually went down in a pair and the asphalt did not get past the Kevlar lining; saving my ass (literally)
