Alright so i tried cutting (butchering) my stock plastic covers. I need new ones. I considered running without, but i ride everyday rain or shine. Dont want the foul weather messing up stuff. Is there a huge difference between the danmoto and rizoma's? Obviously looks but they both are aluminum with lexan and one is $110 bucks cheaper. The other consideration is does the lexan get dirty with belt dust etc? If thats the case i may just get the carbon ones. I'd prefer the clear ones, but dont want to have to take them off and windex them every weekend.
The lexan will get dirty over time. You could buy another set of stock ones and try again.
FWIW, carbon is MUCH easier to cut [thumbsup]
The quality of the Danmoto stuff is just fine. Something like that, I'd def pocket the cash.
I doubt you'd have to clean them more than a couple times per year.
I've run open belt covers year round rain or shine for a couple years now.
If you cut the carbon wear a mask. Nasty dust.
Before my tear down, I ta open belts for a couple of years too, all weather. I cut down and left the horizontal cover, just the 'head', as if anything is gong to flick up it'll catch there first. Apart from curing that paranoia, no problems since, and I love the open look!

Same...
and no rust or premature wear on the rollers?
Ditto ...open now , no issues at all
Just as you suspected I had lexan clear covers for a few years , they do get crappy looking inside , clean every year then one year just said screw it ran open ....never looked back
I ran open covers for 4 years as well. Obviously didn't blow my motor up but the bearing surfaces got rusty very quickly and I do think it contributed to the wear of the bearings as well. Plus the area inside was funky dirty because of it, and I think the look is more suited to a rat style bike than one you want to be "pretty". The empty bolt holes and all. *shrug* I could just be getting old. I found NOS 900ss ones from the Cagiva days and I love em. If I had an 800 I'd track down a set of the metal Pantah ones, maybe have some vents machined in em, and powder coat em.
SpeedyMoto Leggeros. ;D
I've got an 800, track em down for me Eli.
on a crappy note, i got my mivv carbon highs installed. Not real impressed. thought it would be more i dunno "thunderous" lol. I do realize its only a 620 and my last bike was a rc51 with sato's but dayum! shoulda gone with boomtubes! [laugh]

Well, they will get louder over time. Got a drill?
yeah db killers are out.
PM me your location â€" I think I have my original covers from my s2r800 sitting around collecting dust. They're yours if they're still sitting where I left them.
Pick up a used set of covers on ebay sketch out what you want in pencil. Use a dremel and take your time. Doesnt need to be perfect as you should then use sand paper to smooth it out and get the final shape. Wear goggles and a dust mask. That's how I did mine here's how they came out.
That's also how I did my rear hugger.
