anyone got the carbon tail cowl? I just got mine, attempted to install. 2 of the brass bungs broke from the mold, one bung was filled with resin. So i chased the threads lightly with a tap, surprisingly that didnt break the bung from its mold, mocked up the factory brackets, which had to be modified, now im waiting for the epoxy to cure the bungs back in place. In my opinion that company has no business making carbon fiber keychains, let alone bodywork. I do have to say the outside looks good. Maybe i should just glue it to the seat. Rant over
I have a lot of CF and all of it came from our friend, http://www.monsterparts.com (http://www.monsterparts.com).
Having had bad luck with CF from other vendors before, I examined my initial order very closely. All was well. Since then, I've ordered just about everything CF for my bike from him and have been extremely pleased with each item.
Yes sir! I have ordered alot from there so far. Great people. I didnt see a seat cowl for my model listed though. You'd think i'd learn my lesson from ebay/amazon stuff, but sadly i havent. I would have ordered my exhaust from them but i didnt really recognize the only brand they have.
SSR doesn't make their own products. Almost all his stuff is the same crap you can find from China eBay sellers that he rebadges. You could literally order a windscreen, gas cap, set of side covers, etc buy the same parts from "MCMOTOPARTS" or whoever lay em side by side and it's the exact same stuff.

yeah i got some carbon stuff coming from monsterparts. little more money, but the frustration of working with garbage makes it worth it!
I have the cowl and the tank skins, tank skins were a major pain in the ass to fit, two tabs that hold the inboard tank skin to the center strip broke off on one side and I had to fabricate new ones. Lots of dremeling to get them to fit properly. No issues with the cowl. I'm very happy with the look now and hopefully the clearcoat holds up. I could have spent a few hundred more but I'm ok fighting with them and saving a few $$$.
Monster parts no longer has the cowl for older monsters listed... I'm lookin' for one too
If their CF is anything like the anodised parts they sell [puke]
It fades in UV light leaving red pink and black purple .
I would run.......... not walk away.
Whats that old saying about the price v quality?

But to be fair lots of high end companies have shit anodizing too. I've seen Speedymoto "black" that was purple right outta the damn box! The local company that did my forged wheels and a handful of other stuff knocked it outta the park, I've manhandled the things and I can't even scratch it so I doubt it'll be purple any time soon. Don't understand why these moto companies can't find good anodizers.

Yeah, now it kinda looks funny because I don't have any other gold on my bike. Eventually I'll pull it off and just hit it with some BBQ paint...

They dye their blacks with a mix of sythetic dyes and powdered fragments of DPs heart for the extra rich black AND UV stability
