I want one too.
You should get a lathe and make me one.;D
Very cool!!

It's been years since I've run any lathe, and I was never that good.
Decent equipment out here is harder to find-less defunct industries.
I could deal with a small lathe and a bridgeport. Even wired up for 'em.
Propably done on a CNC machining center.
Drill and ream holes thru each face, insert dowel pins or stepped pins for middle cube to hold everything in place.
Use endmill to counter bore hole to correct depth.
Use woodruff key cutter to machine face of cube.
Repeat 5 times.
Repeat again for middle cube.
The secret is using dowel pins and stepped pins on the 5 faces not being machined to hold everything in place, once the pins are pulled it's FM (make the beast with two backsing magic)

I'm tempted to repond to your gif with the same "aint nobody got time for that" meme, but then this thread would devolve into too much internet-y-ness. ;D
FTR, I watched the vid. CNC machines are hypnotizing to me. Very zen.
If you haven't watched the whole vid. I'm pretty sure that's not a CNC machine. :D

I stand corrected. Regardless, lathes, CNCs, or whatever that thing is are the same hypnotizing action.

The first time thru it skipped to the end for what ever reason. [bang]
Pretty slick use of an engine lathe.
The key is still immobilizing the inner parts during the final few cuts. (S)he used hot glue, I suggested pins. In the past I have use solder, babbit, and other low melting point alloys to accomplish the same goal. (The actually make a metal with an almost zero coefficient of expansion that melts at around 140*f, once used it to cast an exact duplicate of the foreman's coffee spoon. He stuck it in to stir his coffee and pulled out a stub ;))

If you can make me one of those, I'll pay good coin.

No clue how I'll chuck you up in the lathe, sugar, but I'm willing to try.

Turn cubes are cool.
I've never made one.
I couldn't begin to guess when I'd have the time to try.
Besides, Smithy, wasn't I supposed to make you a set of brass knuckles?

Well if and when you ever find time to do some of those cubes, I'm all in.
Noted...

I bought a set from your competitor :-*
They help me keep KNight of Ni inline.
How much? ;D
When I was an apprentice (nearly 40 years ago) the leading hand was just about to retire.
this was one of the last things he made.
He said he saw it made when he was a young fella back in the old country... he was a POM.
He made it from brass, and didn't use the hot glue.
I dont think it would be that hard if you had the correct dimensions...
POM?
Ah
did you see how fast that guy moved his right hand? it was like a blur.

then, like eveything else we chuck on a 'y' as in 'pommy'
or commonly ... pommy bastard! [evil] [laugh]
Seriously, I want one. What I really want is time and equipment to make my own, but that won't happen in the next decade or two, so instead, I want someone to make me one.
