I've managed to snap one of the mount points on my current fairing, and a few others are looking dodgy, so thought I would look into replacing them. Good old Fraser's (the Australian importer for Ducati) have quoted over AU$1000 for just the two panels. I found this on e-bay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ducati-2009-12-Monster-696-ABS-10-13-Monster-796-1100-S-EVO-Side-Fairings-Black-/321735629556?hash=item4ae8f01af4&vxp=mtr (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ducati-2009-12-Monster-696-ABS-10-13-Monster-796-1100-S-EVO-Side-Fairings-Black-/321735629556?hash=item4ae8f01af4&vxp=mtr) and am wondering if it is too good to be true. Anybody tried cheap knockoff versions and have a story to tell?
I bought carbon fibre tank panels from China....just to see.... they're OK for what they cost. But the fit isnt like factory original.
I've bought a number of good used tank skins from ebay (mostly from the US). Even with shipping, still far less costly.
That would be my suggestion.

No FHE, but I really like the idea of the Woodcraft one piece tank cover...

Great minds think alike. I've just PM'd Anchorism about that one piece tank cover, for more info. I even wonder if somebody could fabricate an aluminium version of this. Thanks for the other links, I'll have a look. After a bit of research I'm certainly going off the cheap stuff.

How much would you like to spend? ;D

Yup. I've read and lusted over the bike in that thread. I was thinking just the cover might be a bit simpler and cheaper.
FHE DO NOT waste your money, a local purchased all tank cover in CF from china, didnt spend more than $300 w/shipping and had to make a 1 piece oart from 3 !!!
Tabs broke from side covers and tab-hole that holds to tank cracked . . this using a barely here torque
Thank you. I'm steadily going off the idea. Now to decide between the Woodcraft or second hand originals.

either idea is ok . ..
I bought new covers off ebay from a shop in France for a cracking price but unfortunately they were damaged in transit partly due to poor packaging and the seller wanted no part of it! Got sorted through paypal but the repair cost is more then the part is worth!
Ung your probably the one that keeps getting the cheap second hand ones I bid on! [laugh]
I just ordered a set of these, http://store.proitalia.com/ducati-monster-color-therapy (http://store.proitalia.com/ducati-monster-color-therapy)
The last of the color therapy sets, i bought the matte black color. I also assembled a set of mismatched panels from Ebay hoping to custom paint or film wrap them.
Well I've put a bid in on the e-bay ones Ung linked to. No counter bids please!

Where are those photos? I'd love to see your bike and get more details on the Woodcraft, especially as I just got outbid on e-Bay replacement originals. I'm seeing it as an opportunity to go for a custom paint scheme. I was thinking a pinstripe to match my helmet, but on the same gloss black I have on there now.

Woodcraft ordered - if I can replicate Anchorism's sanding job and remove the centre stip + a nice custom paint job, then I will make my little Monster one step more unique.
[thumbsup]
Probably pie in the sky, but I found a fabricator who will take a look at the Woodcraft and consider if he could fashion an aluminium version. No idea of cost though!

just make sure you reinforce the bottom side of it well. Youll see what i mean when the tank gets there. It shouldnt be too difficult to do.
Oh and i will be working on updating the photos again today... I didnt have much time the other night.
Do you mean reinforce the bit you sanded down or the whole tank cover?

The back of where I sanded it down. From the bottom side you can probably fill in the area where the rise is and I would bet it would be fine.
Thanks. I think I'll try and consolidate this topic to your other thread, to save us both repeating ourselves.
Here they are:

Now to decide what colour to paint them?
(I tried a dozen places to see if they could fabricate something similar in metal, but had no luck. I have one more avenue to try, but these are actually such good quality I am not too disappointed)
If I can follow in Anchorism's footsteps and lose the central raised stripe, I was thinking of a gloss black with an off centre white stripe, like my helmet.

I think I will stick with the Ducati twin line logo ion the sides, if I can find the right decal. I would likely repaint my pillion seat cover to match but don't think I will bother with the bikini fairing or front fender (I like the carbon fibre there as it is). What do folks think?
I have purchased one of these Chinese Ebay Fairing kits.
Ask me any questions.

Thanks for the reply. Were you pleased with them? Any fitment issues?
In the end I went for a more bespoke solution: see here (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=62943.msg1319574#msg1319574)

Your welcome.
Yes, I'm very pleased with them. Everything fit super good. Looking at the oem fairings I took off and these, the quality is so close I can't tell a difference.
When I ordered them, I could tell they were made to order. The sellers, sent me pics asking if I liked the paint quality.
So far, All I get is compliments on the finish and look.
Hope your happy with yours!
DUCATI ON!
