This is the first 696 that hits eBay !!
Seller states: "I'm selling it due to an old injury that makes shifting the bike a little uncomfortable for me" ???

Starting bid of 8k, he'll never sell it at that price range, 60 miles or no, it's a used bike. Unless a person lives close to him, it'd be cheaper to buy new from a dealer.
Had a similar experience with the 08 aprilia shiver I had, finally ended up selling it for 7300, only 600 miles on it and had it's first service done!

He paid over retail for a bike he could've walked into a dealer and bought with no miles. Amazing!
Chris
Not really, he didn't have to pay tax, dealer prep and setup and doc fees. So he paid a bit less for a bike that's kinda hard to find right now in some places.
The state will still want their tax when he goes to register it. Now shipping, prep and doc fees are bs anyway. Not a good buy in my opinion but the buyer must think so.

To make it a good deal for the buyer, he must have considered the fact that dealership's costs vary a lot from one to another and he may live in an area where his dealership charges more than others. I remember when I was shopping around for my new duc, my dealer charged a freight fee of almost 500 bucks compared to the dealer 2 hrs away who charged only 250.00 (or something like that) and no doc fee or any other bs. So to him it may have been a good deal... not GREAT DEAL... but still.
Also,,. you guys have to consider that bidding is an addiction that some people can't control. The buyer may have felt so compelled to win that he may have forgotten his bottom line. I've seen some items sell for far more than what they are worth on the eBay marketplace.
for reference, "new baltimore" is about a 15 minute drive from TT Motorcycles where i bought mine. i know they have a white, cause i was in there last week, and i ended up paying about 9600 OTD.
but whatever, they're both probably happy... and they has the dubious honor of being "the first guy to buy/sell a 696 on ebay"
the guys at tt, by the way, rock.

Nah, only some states wave sales tax on personal transactions, the guy that bought my shiver had to pay sales tax, tho here in ga, you're not required to.
I could go to one of three dealers right now and get an out of the crate bike for about the same, sales tax notwithstanding. I'm not aware of any shortage of these bikes at least at the one dealer I demo'd with. AND any shortage would be short term at most.

+1 Unlike Triumph (StrTrip), Ducati seems to have made sure there is enough inventory for this bike. I went to the smallest dealer in my state and purchased the M696 last Saturday. The dealer did not have a bike available and e-mailed the Ducati regional sales rep. The bike was delivered to the dealer tonight. Needless to say, I am psyched!
The important thing is that this guy just got a wonderful almost new Ducati. Regardless of how much he paid, he now owns a Duc. [moto]

when re you getting yours?
...Wondering about the 'injury that makes shifting difficult". Could be he dropped this Audi motor he's also selling a pipe set off of, on his foot?
