Title: Can I swap bearings to use 17mm wheel on 25mm axle?
Post by: Goggles Pizano on July 15, 2008, 08:19:14 PM
Seems a simple enough swap.  Have older wheel, want to use on newer monster...  Can I just press out the old bearings and press in then new to use this wheel on my bike?

Thanks.

Clarified the question.

I'm not sure it it's universal, but on mine the 17mm bearings were 14mm deep, and the 25mm ones were 12. I was trying to use a newer wheel on a 17mm axle so I had to take 2mm out of the bearing seats and make a new spacer.

Knock out one bearing from the wheel you want to use and walk it , the wheel , and the axle to your local bearing house. If there is one that is a direct fit, they can get it for you.
