Except this time, i got FOUR IN A ROW.
This ticket is over 6' long. Nassau County Long Island. BRUTAL.

For some reason...
I'm thinking that's not a parking ticket. :P
I wish it was a parking ticket! It was a speeding ticket+ everything else he could find be it right or wrong ( like the time i was given a ticket for no right hand mirror despite it not being a law, or having my visor cracked open "too much").
I was probably the slowest guy on the highway on a 3 lane highway at 11PM. On the right lane, cruise control set, and just chilling. Just wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong patrolmen.
I was probably the nicest guy he met all day or even week too. What can you do aside from just be calm and let it go?
Definitely hiring a lawyer for this one. Its going to cost me a pretty penny though. :(
What the hell? Yep, call Casey. Any notable besides speeding?
No insurance. I have it, but the long story short is i had to swap my clutch out when i blew the slave cylinder = no car for 4 months. In that time i renewed my insurance ( no gaps) and just forgot to put the latest insurance card.
Per Casey that is my worst offense. Hes a very fair guy to work with. Good recommendation.
That's what you get for riding street. Stick to those enduro races. ;D
I got a ticket 2 weeks ago for going around the gate at the EZ Pass at the Midtown Tunnel. Sensor wouldn't pick up my pass and after 10-20 seconds of trying to set it off, I said forget it and went around, assuming a camera would catch my plate and bill my account. Cop stopped me and said I should have waited longer. I asked him how long, for example, after 5 minutes if no one comes, would I be justified in going around? He avoided answering directly and said I have to wait until someone comes. I kept pressing him, but to no avail.
Basically, I got a ticket for EZ Pass/DOT's electronics being shitty. >:(
Sorry for the thread hijack, but I had to vent.
Yup, rule of thumb for EZ pass is ,if thers a gate you never. ever go.
if theres no gate, you never ever let off the throttle until you hit something, or you reach 88mph, whichever occurs first. lol
Update:
Found Guilty on all charges. This is the Nassau County Fine Schedule FYI.
I got my fine in the mail today....
For Lack of insurance....I provided proof that I was insured on the date of the ticket, notorized by my insurer.
GUILTY - $1731 penalty.
For Speeding 10 over the limit
GUILTY - $554
For broken license plate light (provided receipt for repair)
GUILTY $158
For broken left tail lamp (provided receipt for repair)
GUILTY $158.
Looks like I'm going to be eating top ramen for the next few months. :-[
We don't do this here Kui...
pm 'Tiz or one of the other lawyers on the board.
Sorry. I edited it. Laws for each state are different. I'm going to give the lawyer that I hired tomorrow a call to see whats up.
Im just pissed that I got shafted for a lot of money for doing very little wrong.

We can talk about how lawyers suck. ;D
I don't disagree with how you feel. We just won't get into it here.

Wow, here with the exception of the speeding, those would have all been $25 "fix-it ticket" processing fees.
Sorry to hear man, hopefully it all works out...
The legend of bad luck continues.... Im 27 years old, you think it would stop already!
Give me a call, something is screwy here.

Yeah... something seems "not right". At least on the insurance count...
Good luck Kui
Are you still in NY? Maybe it's time to move.
I am still in NY unfortunately, I have too many ties here to up and leave. I am however, planning how to get away from those ties. Colorado has my name all over it.
I called the lawyer, my case was scheduled for Dec 15, but got shifted over and he did not yet receive a notice for the rescheduled date. I sent him the bill so he can take a look at it. I'm hoping this is just a clerical error in part of Nassau County Long Island.
NYC sucks in many ways. I spend almost every weekend away from here and my EZ pass bill (and hours spent getting out of the city) is almost insane for some of you guys who don't regularly pay tolls.
$17 to cross a bridge, each way. Sometimes my toll bill and gas bill are equal!

My love affair with NYC ended long ago. The insanity and constant costs are not just forcing me move out, they're causing me to flee not only the country but the continent! ;D
I could tell a dozen stories of myself and friends that have been screwed for minor infractions that really are just ways of generating revenue for the city. The worst part is not really the money (which does suck), but the sense of helplessness. It's all very Kafka-esque whenever I'm caught up in it. I feel for you.
Hopefully the lawyer will find some errors that can be corrected and charges taken off or at least reduced. If not, I recommending fleeing south on two wheels. [Dolph]

Moving to CT in 2008 I was crossing the GW. They wanted to charge me $4 per axle. I figured, no problem. Two axles on the moving truck, two axles on the trailer I was towing.
Nope, charged me for the two on the truck, two on the trailer, two for my truck on the trailer, and two for my bike in the back of the truck on the trailer!
$32 to cross the bridge one way!

Thank god you didn't have your Hot Wheels collection packed in the truck with you!

I know right? It was ridiculous!
HA! thats killer. per axle, LITERALLY. Thats harsh. I didnt know about the per axle tolls before i got my trailer. Suffice to say, i stopped trailering stuff after that. The increased fuel economy from using my sedan instead of my dads 5.4L V8 Candy Van was over shadow by the combined additional axles from the bridges and highways combined within a single trip.
Turns out the default judgement against me wasn't correct. Possibly because my lawyer pushed the date off and maybe the court didnt account for that. Everything has been taken care of.
The $1700 portion was for lack of insurance paper work was reduced to an admin fee.
The $600 speeding ticket was reduced to Jay walking.
The $180 x 2 equipment violations were reduced to just 1 admin fee.
Pheww... Turned from nearly 3k to just a $350 or so.
How much did the legal eagle cost you?
It was under fi hundo, but I dont recall exactly how much, I just said yes since he has a fixed rate.

I won't comment for fear of me having to ban myself. ;D
I'm glad they dont literally count axles at bridges. Most cars have two up front, and sometimes two in the back. And technically even the solid rear axles have two Axles inside them.

if it makes it any less painful, i called two other lawyers and they were only marginally cheaper. 3 of my buddies paid the same price for only 1 ticket, and I got 4!

SHHHHHH!!!!!
I don't have a problem with the lawyer that defended you.
Let's leave it at that.
Good to hear that the admin error ones got cleared off and the speeder got lowered.
