Heard on the news that they got busted for software that gets around emissions tests. If I understand it correctly, in test mode the vehicle complies but reverts to a performance map for customer use. VW head honcho has now resigned.
They envisage a huge recall and prosecution.
Anyone heard about this and implications?

Thanks Kopf.
Cheers.
Read about it on the news.
It's political at this point.
I think VW is just the canary in the coal mine. I'd wager there will be a few more.....
The auto industry is being driven to desperation by stringent regulations while trying to keep vehicles affordable. U.S. CAFE rules are set to order up a 54 mpg standard for cars in country by 2025. Seems wildly optimistic to me given it's only a decade away, and I can only imagine the impact on new car cost then.
Will this have impact on Ducati? I believe other than the fact that Audi owns them, it should not. These were only on diesel engines.
We're not going to discuss CAFE regulations or how Audi's involvement might affect Ducati.
