I was in the Army...I remember only one verse of The Army Goes Rolling Along...
But since my early childhood, I have known every verse and line of the Marines' Hymn.

Semper Fi on this, a most auspicious day!

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFkyDB2InTs)

40 years ago today.

Wish I could remember more than one verse of some of the other Epic Military Musical Compositions like

"Casey walked through the door with a bowlegged whore, and the band played on..."

But that's all I've got after all these years.
