I'm sure plenty of you guys shop eBay as do I. There are good sellers and bad sellers, but when I look to buy something I ask about the overall condition before I bid unless the feedback and general tone of the listing seems up to speed. Today I had a back and forth with a seller who will remain nameless and I am left scratching my head as to what I said that pissed him off, but maybe someone here can straighten me out. The item for sale was a set of wheels and the pics that were posted showed what is a gray wheel looking brown and the tire appeared to have moss growing on it, so I asked a few simple questions to see if I could clarify:
Me: What happened to that wheel - underwater? How are the bearings? Does it come with the speedo drive in the left side of the wheel in the bearing area? It's straight and true, correct?
Seller's reply: what kind of bs question is this, i don't sell junk!!!!!!!!!!! NO it has not been under water, YES the are straight, if they were not they would be in some scrape yard not for sale. what does the description say??? speedo drive is listed seperate, just like 50 other item i have for sale on this bike. not trying to be rude but dam look at my feedback i don't sell junk, read the description, it answers your question perfectly. i don't take kindly to people that dought my credability since i have excellent f/b and been here over 8 years. besides, if i were selling junk do you really think i would tell you the truth about the condition that was different than what it says in the description? do you really think i would?? there has to be some trust somewhere and it isn't by you asking question like this because now it sound like you are a trouble maker whether you are or not. don't take me the wrong way, just think about what i am saying that is all i ask.
Me: Wow...harsh! I saw your feedback and I respect that, but feedback aside I don't know you and have no way to gauge your description of "good". The wheel looks filthy and the pic of the tire tread makes it look even more like it was used as an anchor for your bass boat. Pics don't lie and if you are offended by my simple question then I apologize, but take a look at that pic and tell me what YOU think. I have purchased plenty on eBay and yeah, descriptions are always accurate, right? Your idea of perfect condition and someone else's are always going to be different. All I wanted was clarification. If the wheel had been on a bike that was caught in a flood I would want to know, you never said. If it was used as an anchor before you got it I need to know, you never said. Aren't these fair questions? Also, the speedo drive washer is different from the speedo sender which is what you are referring to as an additional sale item. If you want to play nice I'll bid, otherwise good day.
Seller's reply: NO ONE IS PERFECT 100% OF THE TIME ON USED PARTS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE, THEY ARE USED PARTS YOU KNOW. I USUALLY OVER DESCRIBE THEM. AND YOU DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE THE ABILATY TO CHECK THEM? APPARENTLY YOU DIDN'T READ MY AUCTIONS GOOD ENOUGH, THAT IT THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU, READ MY AUCTIONS, MY EBAY NAME IS 'SxxxxxINC', I AM A LICENSED DEALER. SO GET A LIFE, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME TO BID, I DON'T DEAL WITH IDIOTS THAT THINK THEY DO IT ALL WHEN THEY DON'T KNOW JACK. GO IRRITATE SOMEONE ELSE AND FIND SOME OTHER WHEELS, I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR BS, YOU CAN'T BUY THESE.
Me: Incredible... You must be having a bad day.
I wasn't expecting sparkling new parts or accusing you of anything, just some simple information. Why are you so defensive? I didn't mean to offend you and a simple reply to my question would have bypassed all of this name calling (on your part).
Have a good one.
And that was the end of it. Tell me, was it me? [roll]
sorry man, i was having a rough day. and i was shocked that you were able to tell that i was using the wheel as an achor on my bass boat!
all kidding aside, let's see a pic of the wheel.
Wow, someone must have pissed in that guys Wheaties.
I didn't see anything wrong with your questions. The guy is on there to make money. Obviously if your asking questions your really interested in the item. Most sellers like asking questions.

I'm glad it wasn't me. I consider myself to be a and considerate ebayer.
Yeah - I just looked it up... I'd be asking questions too... Photos aren't exactly what I'd call 'great' condition as the seller described it... More like 'hard favored' .. All the parts that he's listing off the bike look like a bomb hit it. Look at the master cyls...
Who know why he had such a hissy. Your questions were fair considering the look of the wheel

Wow. That guy's a d-bag. You were inthe right, 944. That tire looks like it's been inside an elephant for a few years.
Holy crap those parts are horrible looking you were completely in the right!
give us the link to the auction so we can all break his balls... Not that you did, but he deserves to be f....d' with! [laugh]
wow, what a douche... if he wants to sell his items he shouldnt mind answering a few simple questions.
all he had to do was say...
no, it has not been underwater. it was sitting in a wrecking yard outside for a while and thats why it looks that way.
i think that would have been easier and faster than his reply... what an idiot.

I don't want to create a shit show for this guy. Eventually his bad attitude will catch up with him. You should be able to find him based on what was posted here already though, so if someone *cough* wanted to bust his key-own-ees, well that is their decision ( [thumbsup]).
haha.. i went and found the auction as soon as i read your first post [evil]
So, who wants to start a bidding war for EVERYTHING he's listing?
We'll start at, say. . . $45,000 for the wheels?
Anyone?
Some of the cues that I use to decide if I can trust the seller are: 1) Are the items clean. I don't deal with slobs and in the rare times I sold over ebay I spent a lot of time cleaning my items and getting a good photo. 2) I don't deal with sellers that have negative comments in their adds. I expect to be
treated with respect until I prove to be an asshole. I think the add should describe the item and not go into several paragraphs on how the seller is sick of deadbeats, how he wants his payments, and how he feels about the IRS. Lowlife sellers forget that it is me with the money in my pocket and if they want me to take some out and give it to them, they have to be nice to me.

Did he torch off the lever? That item looks like junk to me.
If you bought that stuff by the pound, you'd still have to clean it up before you could sell it to a recycler.
