Alonso's car was mangled and when I saw him crawl out I couldn't believe my eyes, that was massive, I thought he was a goner.
+1 on handing the championship over to the Mercs
A- Ferrari's get a jump on the Mercs from the start and maintain a magnificent lead
B- Kimi's car catches fire and retires
C- Ferrari pits F@#K up Vettels front left tire change
D- Vettel runs it off track trying to catch Hamilton
Thats just on the Ferrari side of things, the TORO Rosso's team was having a inner team skirmish, the whole red flag thing, etc etc
Modern racing cars are designed to disintegrate during impacts in order to bleed off the potential energy and limit the transfer to the driver's tub.

Some critics say that Alonso did that purposely to get out of driving the Mclaren, jokingly of course, or are they?
Alonso was unbelievably lucky. Great engineering in the car for sure...but if the rear of the car doesn't hit first when he flips upside down in the gravel, flipping the front back up, then he likely hits his head and is killed. Wow...crazy crash.
^^^ Lucky big time. I tried to break it down by frame. On the first flip, he probably went 60-70ft in the air. In the last shot he is landing upside down backwards. Not quite sure how his head didn't hit the ground.

I'd like to see more engine manufactures in the game rather than the entire field running on either Ferrari or Merc powe. When Honda debut for Mclaren I was happy even though they suck at the moment. Where's BMW? I think Jaguar is coming back or is it Aston Martin

It certainly was in interesting race for sure, outside of Rosberg winning by 30+ seconds.
I am not a Kvyat fan (nor of Vettel for that matter), but I thought Vettel was a bit out of line dressing Kvyat down. It is a freaking race! I thought Kvyat's pass was aggressive, but ultimately clean and well executed!
I'd rather see aggressive (safe) passing than a procession!
Mark
Kyvats pass on Vettel was way cleaner and appropriate than what Bottas did on Hamilton last race. Vettel was just being pissy pants.
As far as the rebull cars, I kept hearing that they are hanging with the Mercs well maybe with Hamiltons ailing car but certainly not with Nicos.
The redbulls are kicking Williams ass though

That was awesome. Congratulations to Max. I can't even imagine racing an F1 car much less winning at 18 in your first race. [clap] [bow_down]
That was crazy!!! Both Mercs take each other out, I put some of the blame on Nico, he aggressively closed the door on this "teammate" and forced him off the course and if you saw the replay the entire field was on a different line in that corer and the Mercs where god knows where.
The story besides Max winning is that he beat 2 Ferraris driven by 2 former champs. Ferrari bosses are gonna whack somebody soon
I think the spoiled brat Hamilton screwed himself. He had the entire race to make his move, but he was passed by Rosberg and lost his cool.
How good are the F1 drivers when an eighteen year old wins his first race in a new to him car.

I would say they're all pretty damn good or they wouldn't have a ride. It's not like he's some booger eating 18yr old kid that showed up in his Honda Civic and got in the car. He started racing karts when he was 4. Take it to MotoGP. Marquez was 20 when he came to the premier class, and not only won his first races he won the championship. Then backed it up.

Looked like it . ..
Oh and let's not forget Ferrari missing out on a podium losing to a force India, WTF is happening to the men in red
I heard some rumors of Ferrari having talks with Nico Ros as Kimi will be exiting at the end of this season
still rumours . . .
but, thwy have NO idea where the problem is
Ricciardo's feelings
http://www.formula1.com/content/fom-website/en/latest/headlines/2016/5/ricciardo--feels-like-he-has-been-run-over-.html (http://www.formula1.com/content/fom-website/en/latest/headlines/2016/5/ricciardo--feels-like-he-has-been-run-over-.html)
The whole Riccardo thing was shocking. They had so much time in hand that even with a "regular" shitty pit stop he would have come out of the pits WELL ahead of the Belieber! As it was he came out directly behind him.
It was a damn shame.

IF and big IF, RB had not screwed up the DR's pitstop it would have been a different story and another "I am pissed" face from the guy who instead of being courteous and show some sportsmanship and toast with its fellow drivers goes gives the bottle to his boy/girlfriend first . . . Sorry, but it is my opinion, I really despise the idiot
I thought he showed a lot more class than Lewis did last year.
Also don't forget he's had two other races scuppered because of punctures, one of which was caused by his own teammate. Poor guy has just had a terrible year
Lewis dominated the race today. 7sec lead. Great move in turn 1 for Vettel, but it was short lived. Nico screwed the pooch on the last lap.
too pissed to make a good comment
Hamilton sure moans a lot. ;D
He shoulda kept his yapper shut before the race. [laugh]
[laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
Everyone was pretty chipper for not winning the race, Vettel was upbeat, Redbull guys were ok with it.
Ferrari boss was onsight so I think a lot of forced smiles were plastered on.
Hamilton.... Waaahhhh!!!
this is interesting . . .

Rather a Senna/Prost move by Rosberg this weekend.
I am no Hamilton fan, but what a hell of a drive!
Mark
Not sure what Nico thought he was doing. Highlights from the race. 4:10 for the pass-crash-pass
https://youtu.be/-QFsChk-pY8
I don't think there was any questions at all what he was doing, trying to keep Hamilton behind him by any means necessary.

How'd that work out? :D
About as well as it did for Schumacher years ago, but not as well as it worked for Senna!!
I don't think there is any way around this for Mercedes, I think they are going to have to start issuing team orders. In the past they have said that they will let their drivers race but there are been far too many if these incidents over the last two years.
It is a good thing that Mercedes has been CLOBBERING the other teams in the manufacturers championship, otherwise I believe the team orders would have come MUCH sooner.
Mark
Not a fan of team orders, then again I don't own an F1 team. :D I say race it out, but they can't keep crashing into each' other. Too bad it's not separate teams they drive for and could have this kind of rivalry. ;)
I'm thinking it's not going to be 'team orders' where they say 'Let Nico past because he's ahead on points' or 'Let Lewis past because you're on shagged tires and he's got fresh ones'.
I think it's going to be 'If you guys so much as touch each other we're going to look at the data, and whoever caused it will sit out the next race, and our reserve driver will be in your car. And if there's a DNF due to contact, the guilty party will sit out two races. And we may also strip you naked for a footrace on the track right before the race, with a 5 yard headstart versus Gina Carano, and if she catches you she's allowed to beat you until you cry for your mommy.'
Prolably us gonna be "race as you qyalifued"

The way I see future team orders being meted out (using the last race as an example) would be after the last round of pit stops: "Hold your positions and finish the race 1-2."

Jenson made a pretty good point during an interview during practice. He said that Nico & Lewis were the show (paraphrasing) If not for them F1 would be boring this year, so you gotta let em go for it, as nice as possible.
Big win for Lewis. Nico gets dropped to 3rd after penalty.

these modern drivers are sissies . . .can't drive with water . . mifht as well go watch IndyCar . . . must leave since I MUST be somewhere in 45 mins . . . .
That was some heavy rain. You can't 'race' in that shit, you could drive around, but that's no good. What do you expect them to do?
It took Lewis all the way to turn 1 to take the lead, which he held to the end.

Big props to his mechanics (with no Nomex suits) for standing ground and giving him a hand out of the cockpit. [thumbsup]
