Actually, I found it quite droll... like the 2-wheeled version of
Two-Lane Blacktop. But that's just me. [popcorn]
"You got a helmet?"
"Oh.., have I got a helmet"
[laugh]
Great movie.
Watched it with my kids to educate them about the late 60's/early 70's. ;D

I've been accused of being a bit slow on the uptake... break it down for me.

The question was whether you saw it the first time around...in 1969...or is your perspective more recent?
If you were there in '69 I suspect your perspective would be similar to mine.
Well,
Don't own a 250, and I'm not fast enough.
Could be a Euro guy if I had more money.
Got a pony tail.
Do wear gear, and own too much.
Comfort ain't bad.
Don't wheelie and am much to old for "kid".
Ain't so fast, just halfast.
Sure ain't track day only.
Don't own a classic.
Guess I'm unique ;D

AH! Now I understand. No... I was 4 in 1969. Probably saw it for the first time aboot 15 years ago... and I probably need to revisit again.
Not to sidetrack the OP too much... but I rather like watching older movies and try to view them with the perspective of the time when they were released. Sometimes it works, sometimes I just wonder what people saw in some of these movies.
I was only 5. ;D Watched the film for the first time in my early teens.
As I get older my Squid episodes of momentary loss of reason become fewer and fewer.
I chuckled at "purebred squid". Good video. :D
I think I'd be the #9 cafe guy with basket case bikes

It's nearly 50 years old now but this scene is profound in any time.

I can't even explain to all of you how much I love the wheelie bunny.

:D
It's so wrong it's right.
The Easter bunny has got to let it out this time of year. I mean geez, with all the jellybeans he's got to deliver.
That bunny looks like he beats kids and takes their jelly beans.
:D

I saw it the first time around. At the time most of us didn't much like the movie and thought Peter Fonda was a pussy.
Easy Rider is on TCM tonight. 8)

Saw it the first time around too. And many, many times since. It was a time piece, I don't think it's as great as when I first saw it and yes, Fonda was nowhere as good as Nicholson or Hopper.

I saw it at the theatre in the early 70s, and did not think that much of it. I still don't.

Finally dug it out and watched it again... my initial 'meh' thought still stands.
Fonda isn't a pussy... he's the Enlightened One, vs Hopper's spooled up twitchy paranoiac spaz.
Just like
The Big Lebowski isn't a bowling movie (rather... a weed movie featuring some bowling...)
Easy Rider isn't a motorcycle movie... ;D
........and 10. :D
