I like Schott's jackets, and their leather is definitely of a motorcycle-grade thickness, but they aren't armored. If you have a jacket like that, how do you armor it? One of those armor shirts? Have a seamstress put some pockets in it, or just not bother?

NOW, if your jacket fits snugly then most probably, you will need a jacket with protection
Not Forcefield level, but equal to what you get in most jackets, and should fit well under the Schott:

Schott leathers leather jacket hide aren’t that thick, actually. Many (if not all) of their leathers have felt material glued on the back (you can’t see unless you remove the liner), to make you believe their hide is thicker than they actually are.
I consider their leather jacket as “fashion jacketâ€, not as motorcycle garment.
Also, if the jacket fits you nicely, you won’t be able to wear armor underneath.
(That’s why companies like langlitz, Lost World don’t offer armor option. It is just impossible to put armor in their jacket without destroying the jacket’s silhouette.)

If you want nice, clean look of the traditional leather jacket with PROPER protection, I would suggest to take a look at Vanson armored comet.

I'm a big fan of Bohn.

Lots of great info - thanks! I think maybe the Schott jacket will go back in the closet and I'll wear my other, property armored jacket instead.
