WDW Looms. Two "new models" areplanned.
Sounds like one is something new (ish?) while the other is a 90th anniversary edition bike.
I'd lay odds it's going to be the big Panigale selected for the 90th livery. Not exactly an out-on-a-limb guess there.
But any thoughts on what the real new item might be?
Something Enduro'ish [coffee]
LAMS Panigale?
What? They'd sell tons of 'em.
Interesting thought - but the bigger picture seems to be pointing away from that

Honda his killing the CBR600RR in the Euro market, and some of the other i4 supersports might go away in the Euro market. Triumph is dropping the 675 plant for a 765.
Part of the Japanese i4 drop is that it costs them almost as much to engineer a 600 as it does the 1000. So they need to sell more 600s to make the $$$. So I wonder if the same would apply down to a low powered, LAMS criteria meeting, mini-gale

Maybe it's a touring bike to compete with the Japanese and BMWs...?
Isn't that tour bike role kinda occupied by the Multi?

I think he was angilng toward the Winnebago class touring bike.

Wow. The world is changing.

I was thinking more along the lines of competing with the K series BMW or the Yamaha FJ series... Maybe bringing back the ST line with the new 1200 motor.
Multi I think is still geared towards ADV touring rather than over the road touring.
Whats the market like for that class nowdays?
Maybe a Supermono :D!
ST1200 would be a ripper. I liked the ST bikes.

ST bikes are vastly underappreciated.
I've ridden every version, and they're all good.
(Although, if I ever get my hands on whoever was responsible for how the bodywork goes together, it's going to get ugly. >:( )
ST899 would likely be plenty stout.....
Supermono 649?
That'd be epic.
Enthusiasts would flip out.
But even if the price were reasonable for a big single.... I'd only probably see one on the road. :-\

... and then there are the other old suggestions: sport scooter and a crazy StreetFighter thing.
I've only worked on one ST2. I'll hold him and you hit him..

Exactly. That's something I'd like to see in the garage next to the Monster...
and NOBODY MADE BETTER SPORT TOURERS AS DUCATI DID
Mmmmm supermoto. But with the classic engine case as a stressed member thing... Won't be so good for the jumps.
Seeing a revival of the ST line would be cool.
But now that LAMS comment makes me wonder about a smaller monster again. Though I wonder if the Scambler has taken the role of the small monster for the immediate term
Something along the lines of the 390 Duke. [evil]

One of each would be cool. :D
Yeah bring back the 400 Monster.
Or, the Monster Classic (retro), looking like the first M900, but modern air cooled motor. Hey, if Triumph can do it so can Ducati.

A 4 cylinder.
V4 SBK they have been talking about?
Well, already have the Scrambler 400, likely that covers the LAMS as far as the accountants allow.
V4 SBK?
I'd be truly shocked.

Supersport back? Really? Aircooled 1100?
If that pic is PhotoShopped, whoever did it is wasting their time fartin' around with Ducati 'spy' pics.
People spend real money for that quality of work.
Just a little strange that ordinary people gather around it, but nothing is said officially...
Where's mah foil hat!?
There's no way they unveiled a new bike out in the parking lot. Just say'n ;)
That looks indoors to me.
Floor is quite shiny.
And everyone has a badge hanging around their neck.
Are we looking at the same picture?

"From a friend who is there: "I just saw the new Ducati Supersport S. Panigale looks, 937 motor, single side swing arm, a little more upright position. Really cool! US MSRP:
Pani 959 is 15k$.
Pani 1299 starts at 19.8k$.
Hyper 939 starts at 12.7k$.
He gave a range of 11k£ -12.5k£, that's 14.6k$ - 16.6k$ today.
and 13k - 15 Euro, so 14.5k$ - 16.7k$.
If it's only $500 under a Pani 959 on the dealer floor, I think that's going to be a problem.
Same sort of issue they faced with the Supersports before.
I've had way more 748's and 996's in than 900SS.
And 749 and 999, as I've never had a 1000SS come in.
I think ~anything they offer with the badge, sound and bragging rights, but less demanding, is going to sell well. The "one day I will own a Ducati" customers are middle age and don't have the courage/skills to ride a SBK well. Here they have something that looks cool, but is smooth and easy. I think they could price it over the 959 - which is what they will actually do by offering S and touring packages.
Sound logic!

tease!
It will probably have milder cams/timing smaller ports/valves and a real flywheel/substantial crank to make it nice to ride on the street. I hear some say the Panis and 1198s are harsh street bikes until you go for it. I met a guy on a D16 who said it was a nicer street bike than his 1198! I have not ridden either so I took his word for it.
If the air cooled big bores are finished (and sadly they seem to be), I would have preferred a liquid cooled long stroke 1300-1400 desmodue per the Motus grunt philosophy.

yup.
The new "Supersport" has nothing at all in common with the history of the bike.
it's a last-gen SBK with a few down-tuned tweaks and a fugly exhaust.
Quick, name all the SS bikes that had a single-side exhaust.

That's not so unusual for them.
