Title: Rio Olympics
Post by: kopfjäger on August 04, 2016, 03:00:54 PM
Opening ceremony is Friday evening. I'm expecting a big show, we'll see. As usual Soccer started yesterday. USA Women won their first match (New Zealand ladies started out playing dirty), but it didn't work.

I had the same break (Tib-Fib) slightly lower on a night jump. Sounded like a tree branch snapping. I was a tad more vocal, and when I see shit like that my leg buzzes.

Any aches or pains there on cold days? I have a clunky lhs shoulder blade from my 130mph high side.

Winding back to the opening... lots of laughs at the ladies comments regarding Tongas flag bearer. Holy crap they sounded like they near needed a personal time out.

USA Rugby is off to a decent start. Women thrashed Columbia. Strong showing against the 7s power house of Fiji and nearly, oh so nearly beat the Gold medal fave Wallabies (Oz), but held them to a tie.

They lost to NZ yesterday, so they're out of medal contention.

Enjoyed most of it.  Could've done without Giselle walking across the entire length of the stadium and then 50 shots of her dancing and waving her arm in the crowd.

Ouch!
The gymnast though..  [puke]

Just snapped my biceps (rather ruptured it) a few weeks ago on the flying rings.  Sounded just like a tree branch as well.

Phelps is a machine. He's treated  us all for so long.

Saw something else very special. A young Ethiopian woman (Almaz Ayana)smashed the 10,000m track WR by 14 seconds.

She broke away at 5k and upped the pace. The last few laps, she not only kept that WR pace, but found another gear.

Very special indeed.

Aussies in the men's 4s rowing got beaten by the English by a few metres.

That was hard. Aussies hate losing, but especially to England. I guess you'd hate that too kopf?

Indeed  :o + she ran longer than usual, often in third lane to pass the lapped runners. Quite sportsman-like too, since world records are 'reserved' for Diamond League where they pay very good money for them and supply pace runners to help. She also confused the back markers, some of who stopped running, not knowing how many times they've been lapped  [cheeky]

Yep, she smashed everyone!

Now I've just seen Great Britain beat Australia for gold in the men's team pursuit.

Stinking poms!

Ledecky's performance in the 800 freestyle tonight was of epic proportion. She beat her own WR by 2sec, finishing 11.38sec ahead of the runner up.  [clap] [clap]
