Title: Front Fork Capatibility?
Post by: voodoo151 on August 17, 2016, 07:24:36 PM
I was given (free) two sets of front forks off of a 2006ish S2R today.
They are in good shape but I am unsure if they fit my 2001 M750 or if it would be worth putting them on.
Any insight would be great.

They'll fit, but they aren't any better.

As ducpainter says, they're only newer but not better, now, you have a set you can send to set up for your weight, riding style, etc and one you'll be using while the other set is being worked on . . .

Do local shops do this kind of work?

Also I should say my buddy gave me two sets of forks. OEM and Showa for the Monster.

One more question, thinking about buying a used rear shock ($100) 15K miles on it. Mine had 28k. Any new ones out there for a good price?

thanks

It would be helpful if you can post pictures of these forks.

And 2006-ish S2R ...what?

800? 1000?

Regarding the shock, if yours is not leaking, and the bottoming snubber is still in good shape, not perished or missing, not likely that the 15k shock will be any better.

Bay Area may be the the closest to 'local'.
