Title: my new dead duc
Post by: Pasta Bobber on July 19, 2008, 07:32:20 AM
Well I brought home a wiped out S2R100, A local board member was cut off by a careless driver, he made me a great deal on the bike. I plan on making a bobber/chopper out of it, everything I need for what I want to do is in great shape. Of course I had a mile long list of parts for motored sports.  I've been working on hot rods and custom trucks with the occcsional turbo 4 banger most of my life, but now only have a one car garage (gods way of telling me to work on something with less wheels I guess)

The rear frame section will get choppedd off and re-fabbed much shorter and lower, we're going to rake the front end about 6 degrees which will be about seven by the time the rear is dropped. I'm thinking of running a stock tank, but we'll see what happens. maybe a solo seat. I'll post lots of pics as I go. I'm finishing the garage (shop) remodel right now.  The bike goes to a friends fab shop in a couple weeks to start the major part of the surgery.  I need to finish pulling the harness so nothing gets damaged in all the frame work. I'm new to the board and absolutely love it, lots of info and cool people!

Examples of various Ducati powered and modified Ducati's are here for inspiration: www.DucCutters.com

Remember one thing about raking the front end is you need to create new tripleclamps to correct the trail figure.  Given the "heart & soul" of your bike is a Ducati, it still has to handle and carve through the corners. (it can be done as some of us have proven over the years)

Similar, probably not as cool, I love that bike! it is definately one of the bikes in my inspiration folder. Is that yours? I've been meaning to call you.  I'm going to try a rear suspension that I've been told not to try. If it doesn't work I may try something more like your setup. I steal ideas, but don't worry I'm not a copy cat ;D yor bike is awesome!
