It's like the bastard love child of a monster and an SS.
Or the love child of an M900 and AJS/Matchy 7R/G50.
It's you.
Climb down...carefully. ;D

You reminded me how much I like the '93/'94 models.
The seat cowl has the same lines as the old monster's cowl.

BTW for the purists out there: The photo is of Miguel Galluzzi's original Monster. This is
THE bike that prototyped *all* Monsters. If there was a serial number on this one, it's '000000'.
I've seen it in person. It's stunning. The footpegs are machined out of billet. The oil cooler is inverted from the SS of the time. It's wearing the original tires. Miguel loves this bike.
Yeah different pipes and half painted over carbon front guard, no ugly breather pods. Extra carbon. Just beautiful.
Thinking about it, he must have got his way becauae its very close to the production model.
I thought that frame tube "X" junction above the clutch cover looked different.
Maybe 851/888 style.
Yeah, that's it, it's got the subframe bracket on top of the tube, just above the rear motor mount, like the 851/888.
The side covers and seat cowl have shapes that are distinctly different from the production bits.
Tank looks smaller too.
Production....

Pretty close. Glad Galluzzi got his way.
I paint every metal clutch cover black.
I want to see how it looks with a bullet fairing, like the Sport 1000S.

It's a picture of a motorcycle Nate', you want some more soup? ;)
Scrambler based I guess with custom frame kit?
Nicely done, but would hurt my body. I would have ridden that in my 20's and 30's.

What's their point? What are they trying to express?
Ugly?
Try the soup comment one more time.
All classic black would have looked better.

He wanted to see the Scrambler with a bullit fairing. That was the closest pic I could find.
That's remarkable.
They've managed to make black/gold *not* work.
Damn, you guys are harsh! Yeah, I don't know why, but that bike does ring the ugly bell.
I don't think the bullet fairing works with the scrambler bodywork, or perhaps just not at those proportions.
It's a bar/triple mounted fairing, perhaps as a frame mount, it'd work better.
And they've chosen to make the heat shield on the pipe a focus, and honestly, it's not an attractive item to call attention to.
And from when I rode a Scrambler, it was one of the annoyances making the riding position unnatural.
Back when I rode 2-strokes, it was accepted that the pipe was in the way, as it was so freaking huge you had no option.
IIRC, Walter Kaaden said you'll know when a 2-stroke pipe is right, 'cause that's when it intrudes on the rider or forces the relocation of one or more major components.
But it's a 4-stroke, and the pipe is not so big.
It's possible to find a routing that doesn't force a compromise.

Maybe the problem is that that ain't gold.
More a cream/beige. [puke]
The tank should just be black with classic gold pinstriping.
I think to make it work, there have to be, changes. A cafe racer doesn't need to worry about bashing the pipes on rocks, so move them down, exposing more of the engine and getting rid of that now unnecessary shielding on the pipes, next give a non god-awful paint job, then a lower, frame mounted bullet fairing, might work.

I think the one with the MHE graphics would look cool without the graphics, if the pipe was changed, that one looks awkward.

After more vino rosso [wine]I take that back. The MHR coloured one and the Pani one are ok.
Geez meneez! Apart from the original Monster the rest of these could all be in a "which one is the ugliest" contest.
The swingarm kills them for me. I can't get away from the grasshopper-y-ness of it.

Yup. Never been much of a custom bike guy (custom just for the sake of custom, not one-off custom for purpose of function.) The current trend is taking a modern bike and trying to make it look like a barn find from 1920. [puke]

Two years from now, Ducati will produce a better looking arm. Some of those with the old arm will do the swap and all will be forgotten. Some won't bother b/c honestly I can see this one being stronger and lighter. It's odd how a lot of people place aesthetics above true weight loss when it really boils down to it.
rant over.

Same here. I thought maybe I was just too old school for my own good, but I see that I'm in good company. I know there are some good reasons for it in addition to making room for the catalytic converter but it would be the first thing I'd try and do something about.
I'm trying to figure out the target audience. ;)
