Title: Save your PMs from the DML
Post by: Pakhan on May 07, 2008, 01:07:10 PM
They have brought back all your old PMs.

To save your PMs offline here is what you do:

1. Check the top so all of the PMs on that page are checked.
2. On the bottom is an option to download as a "CSV" file, this just means excel
3. It will bring up a temp copy in excel and you can save them on your comp.

It's not too bad.

Save it in the format Pakhan mentions, and each PM becomes 1 row of an Excel spreadsheet.

Big plus - the "date" column is pre-formatted. wt:

Thanks for the hint.

I've saved them all and deleted them from the site.

Now if you can find some magic way to delete every message I've ever posted on the site, all would be right with the world.  ;D

it probably took you longer to compose that post than it would to download your PMs.

Thanks, Pakhan

You can also download your PMs as text.

My new signature on VS is "HOW DO I DELETE MY ACCOUNT???".  Anyone know the answer?

I asked to have my profile deleted in a new thread in the general forum.  The admin responded quick and asked if I was sure, I said yes.

The thread I made was quickly deleted, my name is now a number over there, my posts still exist, I can log in as that number still.  So i don't know if complete deletion is possible.   :-\

same with me.  It gives the appearance that you are still there.  They (VS) doesn't want to show deleted members like how the old DML used to.

Deleteing members equals less sales of advertising.

I'm a number now also, but can't log on, which is fine with me
