Title: Question on a 2003 Monster 1000
Post by: diamonddog-2 on February 08, 2017, 11:13:34 AM
Okay great and powerful brain trust ...... :-\  ...... is it a sure bet that a 2003 Duc 1000 Monster with the red wheels and grey paint would be a S model or possibly not. It's not listed as such but.....?  Just wondering:   http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/mcd/5961569683.html

Thanks

Since the bike seems to be bone stock if the forks are adjustable it is an S.  The differences, as I remember, adjustable forks and maybe a couple of carbon fiber goodies.  Ah!  Just looked here.  In '03 it seems there were only the 1000 Dark and S.

My wife has an '03 M1000 with the grey paint and red wheels.  Although not officially called an 'S' model, it does have the equipment which the prior year's 'S' model used to distinguish it from the base model.

also, I don't think the US got the M1000dark.

From the pics in that ad, it's got the aluminum swingarm and adjustable forks, so it's an 'S'.

I've no memory of ever seeing an M1000 dark.
Parts catalogues show the M1000 dark having a steel swingarm and non-adjustable forks.
OM shows black frame and black wheels on M1000 dark.

Razzo Bolognese had a 1000 monster Dark, I don't remember the year.  Ducati's web site lists Dark and S in '03.  Accurate?  Dunno.
