I sat on a number of M1200 bikes tonight. I noticed that all of them really don't have room for my right foot. I can't see how I could ride such a bike without burning up the heel of my boot.
Anyone have a different experience?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Bueller?
Iirc, I read somewhere the full Termi kit solves the issue, but boy it's an expensive solution. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Would be good to sit on a dealer demo bike with Termis, as the demo bikes are often Termi kit equipped to lure you in.
Anyway, our sponsors may have a cheaper solution with other exhaust kits and reflash options.
It's the combined rider and passenger foot peg assemblies of the first model years that is the problem.
Fixed on the R and on the new 1200

Factory must have listened.

Thanks. If I go with the M1200 I would go with the Termis anyway.

Yeah, I've read about that, and I see how the new Monsters changed the passenger peg mounts. Still, my right foot (or at least the boot heel on my right foot) bumps into the exhaust shield. I can't help but think that shield gets hotter than my boot will like.
This looks like it would do the trick...

Ok, now I see the '2017' in the heading :)
My experience, not just above the cat though, is that it takes just a tiny amount of air between pipes and shield to avoid melted boots.
The non homologated Termis don't have the cat or even a shield?

I don't know. Yet.

That looks great; what a beast!

Oh yeah.
I've not been a fan of the "new" monsters, but this one is doing something to my brain.

I wouldn't buy anything less than the 2017 1200 version. The wheelbase for the 2014 - 2016 models is literally an inch longer. That has a real impact on quick directional transitions (flickability). The old 2V monsters were known for this.
The newer models are more in line with the old monster setup
