I've started getting random unsolicited text messages from people trying to sell me shit, so I took a page from Mr. Mabe's playbook.

I send back this "This is Detective Horowitz from the Bakersfield Police Department, the person you've contacted is currently under investigation for a homicide. What is your connection to this individual?"

I was getting about 6 a day from random numbers. The texts have stopped since I started doing this ;D
