Thanks
What's the price on the yellow bike?
I can get it for 5500. I get the other bike for 4300
Given that choice, I'd get the yellow one.
All. Day. Long.
While the custom one is clean, it's got the lower spec 750 suspension and brakes.
And it's very likely that 900 engine has W heads, so less desireable.
They did say it has the W heads, and SS long we intakes. They are very honest and good guys. They said the bike is a torque monster and makes strong power down low!

Wouldn't the yellow bike still have W heads?
'01 likely has V heads. Ask the seller.
I'd go for the original bike also. Like SD said it has better suspension components, and you can make it your own. It will probably benefits from a Power Commander if you can find one for an early bike.
I'd go yellow as well. The thing looks pristine and 6k miles is nothing. You can always customize it your own way. Plus it's fuel injected and with the crap gas we have nowadays I can't imagine owning something with a carb unless you were going to drive it daily and have fresh gas all the time.
Did they have the plastic tank expansion issues that year as well? I had to replace my S2R tank because of the ethanol breakdown. Can't say anything bad about Ducati though... The bike was ten years old at the time and Ducati still replaced it.

One of the pics of the '01 shows V2 stamped on the vertical cylinder.
