Title: 3" Diameter Mirror Needed
Post by: caffeinejunkee on July 21, 2008, 12:20:39 PM
Since we are confessing:

The other day I noticed that my inexpensive bar-end mirror was loose where the arm connects to the back of the mirror. Since the only way to tighten it was to remove the glass to get to the allen heads (smart-thinking folks get out the hair dryer to soften the tape  [thumbsup]), I decided to try and pry the glass off with a flat screwdriver--yes, beer and haste were involved.  :P

You know the rest of the story....  [roll]

I am now looking for replacement glass. I found some on the CRG site, but I'm sure it will be close to $15 - 20 with shipping. Anyone know a local place to get the glass? I picked up some cheap mirror-replacement film at the Pep Boys, but I might as well be using tin foil as a mirror....

Sir, I need you to put the screwdriver on the ground and step back from it now.   [leo]

Yes, I am talking to you MR. DU-MASS.   ;D

Tsssit, dispatch, I have a 10-51.  I'll need a 10-38 to a Saginaw location over.

Tsssit, affirmative he's a CODE 18 just messing with his bike.

Tssit, yup third one for the day but that's why we call them DU-MASS.  Over and out.

I'll have to dig up receipt for the place I got my replacement mirror for the CRGs.  If I recall it wasn't local, online vendor.  I had a few things to order so it wasn't that big of a deal to buy it online.

I don't think ML carries the CRG 3" mirror replacements

Hmmm, raid the ol' make-up drawer  ;)...I guess I'll have some explaining to do if I get caught.  ;D

I also shot an email to Motrax to see if they can work out a replacement. We'll see.

BTW ***, that "Code 10-41" is a bit suspicious, to say the least.

Your local glass shop should be able to help you out.  Windows/glass/mirrors... all the same to them.

But can probably get them for you. I saw some CRG levers go through there the other day ... or were they AVS?  [bang]

I have a 3" mirror at the house in the box of duc stuff, left over from the crash.  let me know when you want to go over to the house and I will call mindy and give you her number and you can go get it.  The box is in the garage, but you will have to go through it to find it, but I know I have at least 2 mirrors.  Let me know or call me!

Yea, I was able to use some heavy-duty, two-sided tape to re-mount your glass. I really like my Motrax--they are stable at speed and pretty strong. The only issue I have is that they do not have the set screw like the pricier bar-ends.

Thanks Again  [thumbsup]

i liked my $9 3rd-eye barend mirrors on my monster pretty well, until they were the primary reason i got a ticket in arkansas.... and apparently almost run down from behind by a USDA suburban which was starting to give chase to DLS/fastwin.
