Loony performance yet everyday driveable.
my parameters were... simple, go everywhere, not new, roomy, able to reconfigure to camp in.

mild off roading might be fine, imagine the look on some farmer's face seeing one of them blow by sideways on his dirt road

Thanks.
A company in Melbourne makes nice Shelby Cobra replicas in your choice of configuration and tune. Yeah, I 'd like one for dates with the GLW in the beautiful Yarra Ranges and Yarra Valley down here.

It is basically an exact clone.

The details of an original Type 35 are present on this one, right down to the square bolts and the leather pads bushing various shafts throughout the engine bay.
“We’ve got all the weird little quirky things in it, like all the leather couplings and all that,†Bothwell said, pointing at things in the engine bay. “You’ve got your leather camshaft coupling and supercharger coupling.â€
While there are all those wonderfully accurate details like the square bolt heads, machined surfaces, wire fasteners and cable pullies, there are a few differences from the original: There is a plain bearing crank instead of Ettore’s roller bearing crank; a dry clutch instead of a wet clutch; the firing order of the straight eight is more efficient; one of the belt drives under the hood is not the original leather; and there are CNC-machined, instead of hand-machined, wheels.
But come on, man, we can live with those changes. They save on maintenance and don’t have an effect on the driving experience or on the viewing experience. And none of those things changed the character of the car.

Same here with my '68 Bronco, never should've sold it. Another car I should have kept is a '67 Lotus Elan, didn't have much choice since I wrecked it.

That would work. It would be my first American car in, oh, forty something years.
Of course, if I won the lottery, there would be more than one vehicle purchased.
I would even take one of the pasturized versions Ford came out with a few years ago.

You got that right. I'd have to go from my current 2-car garage to a 22-car garage... and a hanger.
nope.... you only get one

Actually, for me, that would be correct... I don't want a big house, and if I've won the lottery I won't be there, much, anyway. Never was a boat person... I tell my brother he was dropped on his head when he was a child... he's the one that likes boats and water.
I wouldn't want a big house either, nothing bigger than I have now. Possibly smaller, actually.
The post-lottery property would be large and somewhat remote, mostly wooded, with my modest house and 20-car garage.

I hope he likes both.
Liking boats but not the water seems a bit silly.

But liking water but not necessarily boats is common.

Same here... it sure as shootin' wouldn't be in town. I need room for my 1000M rifle range, and enough room to takeoff and land an Aero Commander.
