Title: The old forum made advrider
Post by: LMT on September 25, 2017, 05:54:53 AM
Adventure Rider - advrider.com is currently ad free. Not for long. On page one of the announcement thread someone posted this:

Here is what not to do:
http://www.ducatimonster.org/index.php

It WAS the best Ducti place till they sold it.

I love this place, I am but a n00b and this site is motorcycle nirvana.

The regulars down in the basement are going to shit themselves!

Well shit.

It starts with one Viagra ad and pretty soon VS is knocking at the door.

I will have to say that since VS was purchased by Torstar, they don't seem to rush to make every forum look the same.

I belong to a gun forum that was purchased close to a year ago and the overall look hasn't changed.

Two of the gun forums I frequent have been bought.  While the overall look hasn't changed, the overbearing ads have slowed the site down to a crawl....

That hasn't happened either on this particular one, at least.

I do use adblock on every site except two. This is one of them. [thumbsup]

I use ABP... and the one forum particularly is almost maddening.

All right... so help me out here.  I hear folks talk about the Old Forum, and then This Forum.  I'm new (er) to the Ducati forum scene... what was, what is?  I visit DMF everyday, it's the best Monster forum I've found.  I also occasionally visit 1 other Monster forum, and 2 Ducati forums... all of which are sort of bizarre in the way they lay everything out, and how they shunt some bikes off to their own 'special forum' (the new 950 Multi, for example.)  Just curious...

I didn't see this: ADVrider is so big that I only hang out in a few corners.  Interesting fact about the gratis support from SmugMug.  Never knew that.

It's because the owner of ADV owned smugmug.
