Hey guys!
So after a long absence from riding (and a pretty hard get off at the track) I'm returning to two wheels. Some of the long time members know me and my previous Monsters that I "slightly" modified. ;)
So here's my new bike. I know, I know, It's not a Monster.... or even a Ducati. But...... I'm sure as being one of the original members from back when this forum was first started you guys won't mind giving me a pass. And, I'm sure I will be looking for another Monster to play with soon.
Anyway, the new ride is a 1980 Honda CX500 Deluxe. I've kinda always wanted to do a Cafe Racer and this platform seemed to fit the bill for what I was looking for. Even though it's not a Ducati, it does have a V-Twin which was a must have for my new project. I have some cool mods planned for her and I will keep you guys in the loop on the build. You seemed to enjoy the past bikes I did so I thought you might enjoy this one as well.
Here it is in all of it's glory in stock form. It currently has 26K original miles and it's in great shape.
Keep an eye out for the build thread in the Accessories & Mods section...... [thumbsup]

Thanks man!
Yeah, it's in great shape. Especially for a 38 year old bike!
As far as what Monster I'm going to be looking for...... I'm really not sure yet. Probably an S4Rt.
Did you, besides yourself, crash the t ?
I seem to remember a special exhaust, special head light and custom brackets.....

Yes, but if yours isn't the one with the trellis head light bracket and probably the first LED (ever?) ..... who was that? taft... taftonomous... ???
Welcome back!
I wanted a CX500 for a long time, I always thought they were pretty cool. Wound up with my brother's CB750 Custom, instead, Comstar wheels and all.
Welcome back! Even if it's not a Duc those old bikes have a lot of potential. There is a local group here in Norcal that has a lot of modified older bikes. Someday I will get up the time and money to have one too.

I bought that bike from Theo back in 2013. He had a Chinese bi-xenon light in a a stock bucket and a rats nest of wiring for the ballast. It ended up frying itself on me while riding at night when my reg/rectifier went out. [bang] Now I run a Motodemic headlight adapter with JW Speaker led light. Brad (owner of Motodemic) used my stock plastic bucket to work out the kinks with the plastic bucket adapter.
You had a crazy S2R1000 also right??
I always loved that exhaust on the S4RT

Thank Howie! How have you been bud?
Yes Heath, I did have a "crazy" S2R. It had a cool custom exhaust as well. [thumbsup]
I have some cool things planned for the CX500 including a custom exhaust. I will be doing a few things in the coming weeks to clean up the rear end and get rid of the hideous rear end/tail light/ directional set up. I ordered a nice billet plate bracket with mounts for new LED directionals, an LED tail light, and a cafe style seat. I will hopefully have that mess all sorted this weekend. I'll start a thread on the build process for those of you who may be interested. ;D
Oh the CX... I'll wait to see what it becomes. ;D
