#8 for the Scots is my step-son Cade Sakamoto.

His Junior year he killed it on the baseball diamond, and he's carried that momentum into this years football season.

This is last nights game.  He plays offense, defense and special teams.

One of our local TV stations does a Sunday night recap of the Friday night games. They give out awards during the end of the broadcast to select kids for different things. So far this year he's been the named the scholar athlete of the week (currently is sporting a 4.1 GPA) He's won the Hit of The Week award (he ran over a kid while quarterbacking  [evil]), and last night they named him Athlete of The Week.

Another station had his coach, another player, and him on (in studio) for an on air interview during their Friday night recap.

Apparently people love them some four seconds on the clock hail marys.

One question, and I'm not trying to diminish his accomplishments...how do you get higher than a 4.0 GPA?

New math? ;D

College prep and AP classes count for more.

Lil update.

Highland ended up sharing the valley/division title with two other schools, and ultimately lost thier first division playoff game in overtime.

Found out today that he is going to be named league MVP.

He earned that title during last year's championship winning baseball season.

That’s awesome.  [clap] Not very happy about the ‘sharing’ a championship piece though.

Co-championship sucks, especially since we beat one of the teams, and the other one had it gifted to them via horribly biased officiating. The team that beat them in the first round of playoffs totally deserved the win. That was an awesome battle against a team that truly out played them.

He had another coach from a private college out to see him today, but he's still adamant about playing baseball and not football.

Good for him. I’m a huge baseball fan. (This years World Series was make the beast with two backsing epic) Better chance at longevity for him. Three dimensional chess.  ;)

So last Saturday night Michelle and I won tickets to a hockey game. It's a big deal in town because it's the teddy bear toss. When the home team scores thier first goal, everyone tosses a new stuffed animal onto the ice. Michelle's ex was there (he has season tickets.) He also happens to have a custom jersey with his last name on it. A local sportscaster sees him and recognized the name because Cade (Michelle's son) was in/on the news a ton this year, and decides to interview him during a break in play. What the newscaster edits into his interview, on the interviewee heading has me rolling.
