So I ended up with a bottle of Penderyn single malt Welsh whiskey. One of 2248 bottles made.
How would this best be enjoyed? I don't know too much about whiskey.
I ended up talking a guy, from Wales-who I never met, through getting his Okuma CNC lathe to work. He knew nothing about it and through many messages back and forth I got him to proficiency :)
He sent me whiskey, a union Jack flask and some chocolate as a thank you.
Neat.
Enema ;)

NOT with a bucket!
But if you bring it to DIMBY next summer, I have no doubt we can figure out how to drink it [shot]

Back to the original question:
I drink whisky(ey) neat most of the time. A drop of water or a small cube does enhance the flavor, but overdue it and you ruin it.
Now, just harden the make the beast with two backs up and drink that shit, but do save some for DIMBY!
What Howie said......
A little water or a cube or two of ice and just drink it.
Just a few drops of water.
An ice cube will melt fast and water it down too much.
Speaking of whiskey...
My favorite local source is getting bigger.

if you ever get a chance and don't mind the price, Habiki Jap. Whiskey is the best ive ever had, 2-3 ice cubes and nurse it, its like crown but more flavor and no burn, so smooth itll make you wanna slap yo mama! [drink]
Anyone tried the Vanilla crown yet?
I made the mistake of being in line at the ABC store (Southeastern thing I think) on the last day before New Year's. Must have been 60 people in line, cars all parked in the lot sideways, a sheriff standing guard inside the store.
Buncha damn drunks.
Try Redbreast. [thumbsup]

I feel a bit redneck now for having had a Woodford's with gingerale last night. It was forced on me so I'm not completely guilty. But I'll admit to liking it.
Ginger Ale is an acceptable mixer for whiskey. Although I'm not sure why you'd mix Woodford with anything, except an ice cube...
This is a tasty combo:
Radiation guy, Tommy, was mixing it so his taste buds are off. ;) That's the first I've ever had Woodford's with anything else.
I am assuming the ginger ale was in a separate glass?
The best mixer for a good whiskey is more whiskey!
On the go-to tonight... Tin Cup.

BTW...my townhouse down here is on Jameson Lane. Not saying there is any correlation...but I do tend to have it available on the regular. [shot]

Change that whiskey bottle to a vodka bottle and Moscow here I come. [thumbsup]
I like making Godfathers which is (choose your whiskey) and just a small pour of amaretto and some bitters. Delicious.
I just pour some in a short glass and then drink it! Sometimes I get one ice cube and run it under the facet to melt half away and then put it in the glass. I mostly use the 4 ounce beer tasting glasses.
Not full. [shot]

A day that ends in "y"?
I haven’t had a Monster in several years, but I still lurk here and live in Bourbon country. Approximately 30 minutes to Woodford Reserve, Four Roses, Wild Turkey, Buffalo Trace, etc etc. we are pretty spoiled. That being said, here are some not horribly priced bourbons you need on your list.
Four roses single barrel: very spicy, one of my favorites. Standard is about $30 a bottle, barrel strength is about $60 but oh so much better.
EH Taylor: this stuff goes down nice and easy. Fantastic
Yellowstone: just tried this and was very surprised. Lots of cinnamon notes. . I’d buy it again
Weller: anything above green label is good good good. But of course it’s hard to find. Knocked out a bottle of weller antique last week. If you can find the 12 year old, buy it. But it won’t be cheap.
And of course Blantons is always amazing. Problem is that’s $60-80 that won’t last long if you enjoy it.
There are many others, our liquor stores are all about half bourbon. If you are in the area some time, do yourself a favor and tour Buffalo Trace and Woodford. Two good tours 30 minutes apart that show you the smaller scale and large old school industrial scale of distilleries. Better yet, plan a day or two and hit several others as well.
Even though I live in a neighboring state it’s rare to obtain a bottle of Buffalo Trace. ABC Stores are terrible for inventory. Never seen Weller in any store here. A buddy of mine does a lot of traveling around so he is always stocked up.
No Officer, that is just my mouthwash that you smell.
