It seems that the new asphalt is a big concern this weekend.
Dodgy weather, 4 tires to choose from, and some new asphalt in areas.
Should be hectic!
Cant wait. Plenty of factors to make it anyones race.

Track in quite crappy condition.
Vinales 13th.
High likelihood that those currently outside the top 10 will be in Q1, as it's supposed to rain for FP2 and FP3.
Weather appears quite volatile, so the predictions may mean squat.
Only MV is the only unexpected rider outside the top 10.

MM almost high sided coming out of the pitlane after the flag-to-flag practice.
Something I would not have thought I would hear today: "Tito Rabat, top Ducati rider".
Looks like the later model the Ducati, the slower it went under those conditions, in that order. That's not the rider. Miller usually excels in those conditions so as far as wet weather racing is concerned, it appears the correct development for mid corner agility is an engineering wrong turn for the wet. The previous characteristic of stability and difficulty to turn gave a secure wet bike, but the latest version being set up to turn better. Fair enough too. I guess we'll have to see what wet race set up they can develop. Just my unqualified opinon ;D
It wasn't really wet. They were some concerns about moisture coming up through the asphalt.
So more greasy than rain? I hated racing in that in between condition.
Won't be the last time I'm wrong. Probably end up being a great wet bike too [laugh]

Looks like Marc screwed himself and Crutchlow by going to slicks. Even though Miller pulled it off. Nice to see the GP17, Suzuki and Aprilla close to the front.
Looking forward to the race tomorrow.

Moto 2 quicker than Moto GP shows how difficult it is to control all that power in the wet, even with electronics.
I'm not one for cultural appropriation, but I"ll make an exception and do a rain dance for tonight. ;D
Track is wet, but not raining as of now for WUP.
Moto 3 and Moto 2 raced. They just delayed the ‘Allstars’ due to safety conditions.

Agreed!! There was so much stupid from MM during that race. Ignored the official, went the wrong direction and pushed out like 5 guys. It’s total bullshit that he did not get the black flag.
Not to mention the BS from the start! Miller picked slicks, everyone else should have started on wets, then forced to pit. Miller was robbed
Not to mention that make the beast with two backsing Jorghey is dead last in the championship. Dead. make the beast with two backsing. Last. Take your $12 million and make the beast with two backs off.
This won't be the end of it or shouldn't be. If it is then it proves the systemic bias towards Repsol and the Honda juggernaut (as if we didn't know).

According to Zarco, he and Dani never touched. It was hard, but a racing incident IMO.
Mark pushed both Aleix and Vale off the race line. Over the top.
Race Direction may be reviewing footage for dirty moves "behind play" I guess. Will be an interesting week. I think we'll all be watching replays. Pedro got run wide by a borderline hard pass and was on the gas when he hit the wet line. Marky physically pushed his opponents bikes aside.

Alot of this may have been avoided if they just started the bloody race on time without the asshattery.
Not sure if you guys saw the post race press conference, but Cal asked Steve Day where all the media was, I'm guessing they were fawning over Vale, and announced that anyone that wasn't in the room could excuse themselves from any of his media sessions in the future.

It must have sucked for Cal, Zarco and Rins. Without the madness in the back, it’s a great story to get those 3 guys on the podium
Cal was pissed, and made no bones about it.

:D worth the price of admission. This ain't over by a long shot. Any more sanctions you reckon? YRT protest or just media demonization?
I doubt HRC/Repsol can protest about Zarco's move after Marky's behaviour. The kid lost it bad.
I think JL will get the boot and Monkey will take his place with Jack No.1 Pramac rider.
Moto GP site is analysing various camera angles of the Marquez/Rossi clash with interviews from all sides. Did someone say media frenzy?
Not over is an understatement.
Regardless of sanctions, there will be retributions from Rossi. It will be interesting. I don't think anyone was impressed with the world champion, lower case intended, today.
I haven't been to the motogp site since the press conference.
The thing is, Marky had the pace and didnt have to foul through to get ahead of Dovi on points. Dad needs to give him a beltin'. Hot headedness has cost him at least 25 points and who knows what else.

I thought Cal was great in his introduction. Let’s see if he boots any media out as the season progresses. I hope so.
MM is in it up to his neck!
The biggest issue I see is that the MM drama is taking away from the real issues we saw, mainly race direction is a mess right now. They didn't follow their own rules! From postponing the start because only 1 rider made the proper decision, to not being able to deal with MM at all. If they had any balls, they would make MM sit out the next race, but HRC would raise such a huge stink that I doubt anything will come out of it.
I thought Mike Webb had bigger balls.
Jack got hosed with the delayed start.
I agree, nothing will be done about Marc, except maybe some points on his license.
Race direction did the right thing on all accounts if viewed from the standpoint of increasing interest in tv/web subscriptions.
Good vs evil, wrong vs right, old vs young, fresh meat on the podium, weather, tires, drama drama drama = people engaged after sunday.
And everyone will tune in for the press conference on Thursday before Austin to watch the reporters ask MM and Rossi the same stupid questions.

Apologies come best in the form of points your rider will donate from his last-race stash.

Puig and Marky are believin'. ;)
It would be easy for the production guys to go back through the footage to see if he was blowing corner entry and exit when nobody was near him.
It doesn't matter. Their whole point is that the track conditions caused it. The track was a mess from the get go, so why try a pass where you already rammed into AE?
I guess Marky will get enough points accrued for the next infringement to put him at the back of the grid? His reception at Misano and Mugello will be interesting..
I wonder if VR fans in Spain will take the side of their countryman along national lines or just be conflicted VR fanboys?

Blah blah blah blah blah.
STFU...all of them.
The track sucked, they all made mistakes.
Marc was out of control...seriously out of control. Did he forget his Ritalin? ;D
MM was a bull at a gate. He couldnt wait for the better opportunity to pass and that was probably track rage. He could have podiumed at least if he stayed cool.
I've not seen this kind of conflict so wide reaching and broad in its scope. A social media ban is needed. What a bunch of high school girls. Primadonnas, VR included. I say that because he is sounding like Stoner and Gibber when they complained about him. Maybe he's actually old enough to feel mortal.
The difference is VR did it the Italian way, with style, so it looked like a racing incident. Think Italian soccer fakery, "oh my leg, he foul me in penalty area, bastido". Marky is too bloody obvious with no finesse and it could cost him the championship. It was rage, not cunning.
The officials also have to take some blame, between their ad hoc decision to start late, and the track condition it was the perfect scenario for this shit to happen. A bunch of testosterone fuelled young blokes on 270hp motorcycles on a greasy track with dodgy bitumen, what could possibly go wrong? They should also have more forcefully collared Marky on the grid and sent him to pit lane. The officials contributed to this. Ritalin needs to come off the doping list. ;D

When you’re under a pressure, real or perceived it’s easy to make mistakes.
MM knows he needs a stack of wins bc Dovi will be a fierce challenger for the championship.
Being so desperate to win always brings the possibility for dumb stuff.
As has been said here and elsewhere, MM could have been patient, the drongo wasn’t and it’s going to bite real hard.
Lots more scrutiny and complaints about his style to come methinks!

Yeah, when he first got up to his knees I thought, not again.
Can't buy a break.
He must be up there with Mamola for best bridesmaid.
Perhaps they'll have him sit out COTA.
That might get his attention. >:(
Serial dickheadedness, riding with his brain disengaged to the extent that he doesn't recognize that it's Rossi.
So he never even gives it a thought as to whether perhaps he maybe should *not* push him off.

<snip>im off.
That would be the correct thing to do.
It'll never happen. [bang]
We can only dream.
Got nothing against him, great rider, just want him to engage with racecraft.
Riding without it is a waste of talent that endangers everyone.
Many folks lump all passes into the same category, but there's a pass for position and a pass for moving through, at the minimum.
I'm sure Petrucci races hard on a pass for position.
Wet patches caused it, certainly not me. ;)

Long, but as usual, spot on!
Great stuff
Yep, very long article, but worth the read.
It’ll be a long year for MM. Rossi and his loyal legion of fans will stick it to MM at every turn.
Interesting to see how he responds.
I hope Dovi makes the most of this sideshow and takes out the title!
