I'm looking to replace the water pump cover on my S4RS
The water pump cover is attached to a rubber hose via a ring-clamp. Does anyone know how I can remove the clamp? Itdoes not have a screw, but seems to be the latching kind. Do I just tug and rotate the piece out?
Thanks!
There are special pliers for this kind of clamp

Do you know what it is called? Is it something I can find at a Home Depot? Thanks.
I've never seen an S4Rs but I am guessing at the type of clamp is on there. To get it off you should take a pair of sidecutters and cut the top piece in half and it should fall right off. Cut it width wise not lengt wise and you will need to use a good bit of pressure to get through it. Obviously you can't resuse these types so get a new one and to to tighten it you can use the special hose clamp pliers or the same side cutters. You should be able to tell where to use them to tighten it. I would just use a regular old worm drive clamp though.
I asked this same question once upon a time and discovered that the pliers can be found but not as quickly as running down to Home Desperate. I'm sorry that I can't remember the name of the pliers but I think Sears has them. Personally I have vowed to remove the darned things and get some hose clamps that can be dealt with roadside in the event of 'catastrophe'. Don't want to have to carry a special pliers to fix a consarned hose.
Good suggestions on replacing them with more conventional ones. Thanks!
Here is what you are looking for but just cut them off and use worm drive. There will be no ill effects from them.
