Title: NO RESPECT for other people's stuff
Post by: Raux on July 22, 2008, 06:34:27 PM
So I come out of the office today and notice my mirror is moved. Some guy is mowing the grass near the bike. So, i cut him a bit of slack thinking he just bumped it, no biggy and i tightened it. Although i did expect at least a 'sorry man'. but no. So, i go home come, eat and on the way back notice a FRICKING SCRATCH on the 'tank'. I'm ticked. I mean he saw me walk up to the bike and didn't saw SH*T. So i get back to the same parking spot and sit and stare...

=== good ending====

The new plastic panel tank is great. the scratch was just a paint rub from the rubber handle of the mower i guess. he must of hit it hard to knock the mirror, but no dent on the panel. hmmm maybe Ducati has something here. I rubbed off the mark with a cloth and no biggy.

====ticked off====
but he could have at least said 'sorry'. OH, and the worst part, sorry to those who may see this wrong, he was a Soldier. I mean a little Integrity would not have killed him.

Yeah, it definitely seems as though our society (soldier or not) has gotten pretty far from the good old days of showing any integrity or owning up to your own mistakes.  Everyone either denies, looks the other way, or sues someone else to attach the blame elsewhere.  Like good manners, integrity and self respect seem to have gone the way of the dodo bird.  Glad your bike turned out okay though.

What ever happened to personal accountability?  As of late it seems that people feel no accountability for ANY actions.  You hardly ever hear "I'm sorry uttered in public; and if it is, it's always followed very shortly by, "But...".  I don't even know where to start, so I guess I'll just leave it at that, this subject just really gets to me.

I know what you mean though, you never hear anyone just say: "I'm sorry. I was wrong." anymore.

I hear that my friend!!

I was at the beach 2 weeks ago and i walk off for a bit.  When i come back i notice some dudes standing near where my surfboard is just kind of blindly looking into space.  They were dead silent holding a football i didnt think much of it but i happened to glance down at my board and noticed a scag was snapped off!!!  I said "what the make the beast with two backs is this shit?!" and i looked at them and demanded an explanation.  They stared dumbfounded and finally one piped up and said they were playing football and tripped over it.

Who the hell plays football on the beach in the middle of groups of people?!  They gave me the 40$ for new scags though so i can't complain too much.  However they wouldnt have said anything if i didn't actually notice it, this i am sure of.  No one will own up to anything unless you call them out on it in this day and age.

If you know who did it, go back & tell him he owes you some money. If he won't pay, kick him in the nuts and beat the crap out of him. If he calls the cops, go back the next day & throw a brick thru his window. If he calls the cops again, burn his car down. If he calls the cops again, burn his house down. At this point remind him the he still owns you the money and he can guess what's next.
Oh, always smile. ;D
Back in the day, people knew not to mess with someone's bike.

nobody owns up to anything anymore its the way it is.

its all about yourself and if the othyer guy doesn't call you on it its not your problem thus the proliferation of the sayings "if you aint cheating you aint trying" or "win at all costs" or "its not my job" or "i have the right to do what i want and nobody tells me what to do" and my all time favorite "don't worry child you truly are special and better than others"
