Title: Top case or storage on monster?
Post by: baadaaboo on May 07, 2008, 02:10:28 PM
it's kinda inconvenient to carry around my helmet and gloves.  Has anyone put a top case, saddle bags or any kind?  With picture would be great.

what about a helmet bag? thats what I use, and I put the gloves in w/ the helmet...

I just dont feel comfortable leaving a bike and complimentary 800 dollar helmet and 100 dollar gloves for when/if someone decides to steal the bike... or just the gear.

Then I still have to carry helmet bag around...   :-\

I need storage because I don't want to carry the helmet around.

you should have a helmet lock under the seat.

I've never had anything stolen from my monster. It is only be parked outside for 45 minutes at a time. When I park at work I just take the stuff in. black helmet + sunny day = Not so happy me...

something like this would probably work well too!

Why don't you just lock the helmet to the bike using the helmet holder?   Buy a little bag to wrap around it, should it rain.

The helmet locks that usually come with bikes are pretty shitty. Not to mention if you know anything about the bike you can usually release the seat to bypass the helmet lock fairly easily without any tools or the key.

If you go to your local bicycle shop they have some small cable locks you could use to lock the helmet to the frame of the bike. I use one that's really small and has a retracting mechanism (think tape measure), a combo lock, and fits under my seat with velcro.

This is a very cool helmet lock mod:

"Chrome plated to appear as though it came standard with your bike."
