Title: Racetech Suspension or Ohlins?
Post by: Lukey on July 23, 2008, 04:09:17 PM
Assuming money *IS* an object...

I need my rear shock rebuilt.  For $225, Racetech will rebuild it to stock specifications.  For $500, they'll rebuild it including their gold valve kit and a spring tuned to my weight/riding style.  Anyone have experience with either?

Alternately, I could spend about $1300 to install a brand new Ohlins rear shock.  This seems way steep, but I'm willing to consider it if it really is awesome.

What think ye?

I haven't checked lately, but you should be able to get a better price than that for an Ohlins.

Penske makes good stuff too.

racetech makes good stuff. I have heir vavles and springs on my Showa forks.
If you have sachs for rear shocks, dont bother rebuilding them. Just chuck it in the trash or hold it as a spare.
Ohlins and penskes can be had for $900 cehck board sponsors.
If you have a showa, you can do the rebuild. Ive heard some good things about racetechs in showas.

I am personally going from a stock sachs to a stock 999 showa with ohlins spring sometime this year (aquireing parts!)

You don't have to buy the most expensive Ohlins shock and still get good performance.
