It was time to sell off my beloved Honda Accord. I put a boat load of miles on it and it never failed me. One of my employees has been hot for that car for a couple years and it went to him for a great price.
I had been coveting a 6th gen mustang ever since they changed up the body style in 2015.
I finally talked the wife into it and made a deal on what you see below. It came from a dealer in Wisconsin. This car was a Ford executive driven vehicle and turned back in after a year. The dealer bought it at the Ford lease auction and didn't even have it in hand before it was sold to me.
So, I had to wait a little but that was fine. Rather than fly and drive 13hrs (so really a 20+ hr day) I had it shipped for about the same cost.
2017 Mustang GT premium, 6 spd manual, 9300 miles, magnetic grey, nav, 20" Foundry wheels.
I love it.

Thanks. Yes, it's a PP car, but I swapped to the drilled/slotted rotors. It all started with a pad swap to get rid of a ridiculous amount of brake dust and for a few bucks more.....
I also dropped it with BMR springs. I highly recommend their rear suspension cradle lockout also, it takes a lot of slop out of the rear end and handling is much improved. Wheel hop also. I put in Steeda shock mounts at the same time, which are also worthwhile.

Based on what I've read, the vertical links are only necessary for road course or high-powered strip cars. Overkill for the street, IMO.
Cradle lockout is the first thing I'd do to one of these cars, big payoff.

A friend owns a genuine non restored early model Laguna Seca pace car in original beige paint with track signage by dagger brush. How it got here I dunno, but it is real with a full history. Recently won a show. Original 289 but with the carb and ignition upgrades that we would do on old Monsters. I'll see if I can get a pic. The first Aussie owner removed the GT stripe but current owner wants it back for original livery.

I really like that thing though I'm sad it's automatic only. I understand why though. The mt/clutch probably wouldn't stand up to that level of torque for too long.
Yeah, a manual is much more fun on the street. (imho) But, you won’t find any modern racecar in let’s say IMSA that run them. They’re all some sort of automatic. Even the professional drivers couldn’t turn the same lap times they do running a manual. I stream the onboard in the Corvette during races, and they shift thousands of times during the 6hr races not to mention the 24’s. I do love a 3 pedal vehicle though.
Same. I'm not out to win races though. I just feel more connected with the car when it has a manual.

I feel the same way! I'm ready now! My car is buried behind a bunch of bikes, cars, rv's and jet skis in the building my shop rents space in.
I put 10k miles on it last year. No major complaints. I did have a quarter window seal start working it's way loose but had that warrantied while it was still in effect (expired now)
I've become a Chemical Guys addict and am getting too good at cleaning cars up. It's turning into a compulsion. If I didn't have a bunch of stone chips (touched up well enough by the dealer I bought from) I'd probably do some sort of ceramic coat.
The MGW shifter I put in is awesome. No regrets there. Other than I have to explain to some dealer people how to get it into reverse since there's not collar to pull up on anymore [laugh]
I
kind of want to put an exhaust on it but *everything* I hear has a rasp to it and I hate that so I go back to being fine with stock.

Funny story about the Mach-E (not sure if it has been a topic on this thread).
A couple I know in Denver were early adopters of the Mach-E and have been quite vocal on social media about their experiences. They were interviewed for an article relate to the delays in deliveries and how FoMoCo has reacted. They posted on socials this past weekend that they had been interviewed by Automotive News (I'm as subscriber).
Was pretty wild to see them on the front page when I read the internet version on Monday!

That's so good
I had a 69 with a 429. It was a fastback, real sleeper. No emblems except for the fender Mustang logo. The only giveaway was the rear tires were twice as wide as the fronts. The smoke shows were impressive.
It was the second fastest car in Hartford, CT...the 426 Hemi in a Charger was the only thing it wouldn't beat.

Once upon a time (early to mid '90s) I had a '70 Cougar that I drag raced, with a stout 351C. I sold the 351C to my brother (it still resides in his '70 Fairlane) with plans to install a built 460 with aluminum heads and all the usual goodies to make a killer street/strip car. Then toward the end of the '90s, a friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the rolling chassis, and went on to restore it. The 460 lives on a stand in my shop, waiting for something awesome to happen with it. Most likely the block and crank will be used in my brother's Boss 429 clone that he'll probably never finish before we're both dead.

While I can tolerate the exterior design of the '24 (I much prefer my '15), that dash is a dealbreaker.
I sit in front of dual monitors for 8+ hours per day, I don't want that look in my performance car. It's as inspiring (and similar) to the HP copy machine that sits a few feet from my desk with it's tacked-on iPad display. The real dealbreaker? All the HVAC controls are touchscreen versus buttons and knobs. Hell no.

In ‘65 Ford authorized a “High Country Special†model for Colorado buyers. They made many coupes, BUT only *1* fastback. It survived.

How's everyone feeling about that interior on the 2024?

How's everyone feeling about that interior on the 2024?
Atrocious.
I won't buy one because of it, for three reasons:
1. A generic SUV interior doesn't cut it in a ponycar.
2. If I want to look at two giant screens, I'll do it at work.
3. No physical controls for audio and HVAC is a dealbreaker. Touchscreens = no bueno.
Not a fan either.
Glad I got my Ram truck last year, this year it moved to full displays for the dash but not as obvious as what they saddled the Mustang with.
My truck has nice gauges with just the right amount of screens around it and then the center display while huge has what I feel is the right amount of things being buttons.
Wish the Mustang had gone a similar route but this is likely the trend everything is going to
^ agreed
And it's unfortunate. A mustang should be halfway to racecar that's driven on the street. That means actual gages and physical controls.
Not an infotainment center, automatic rev matching, auto parallel park etc. I just want to make the beast with two backsin rip shifts and replace tires.

I've seen in some BMWs you can twirl your finger in the air in front of the screen and the volume turns up. So maybe next is make believe you're steering a wheel and make vroom vroom noises and the car will go and steer [laugh]

I'm glad I got my '23 Jeep Wrangler for the same reasons. The '24 Wranglers are going to bigger dumb screens and more tech too. I hope accident studies show that these screens are proven to be the distractions that they are and they're abolished and the screen fad dies so we get back to controls we can use by feel.
That interior killed any and all interest I had in the '24+ Mustang. My '15 might be the last one I buy new. :'(

Not exciting alert! Feel free to skip this.
I remembered another Mustang I owned for about a year.
A brown on brown 1980 coupe with the 1980-81 only 255 c.i.d. V8 (2 bbl carb) backed to a C4 3-speed automatic and a 2.73:1 geared 7.5†axle. Car had no V8 or 4.2 badges. If it weren’t for the dual exhaust with some fair mufflers giving the V8 rumble away, could’ve passed for any of the other engine options available that model year.
Car was as boring as it is described but ran well.
I’m sure kopfjager will post some high compression limited edition drool worthy machine shortly to keep this thread more enticing.
