This is incredibly frustrating... hoping for some insight. When I 'key-on' I get no idiot lights, no headlight, no clicking sound, no nothing....
Bike is a 1999 M900 (used to be a M750 before I did a motor swap in '06)
What I've checked so far:
Battery reads 13.3v.
Solenoid plug has been checked - firmly in place.
Getting 13.3v at the wires going to my starting toggle switch (replaced they key with a toggle).
Checked all fuses - they're good.
Unplugged and replugged both plugs going to handlebar controls along with various other plugs.
I am totally scratching my head on this one.....what is REALLY strange is when I had it in the 'key-on' position and was
standing there thinking to my self for a few minutes, the idiot lights came on and i was able to crank it over a couple times
but after clicking it off, now it's back to doing absolutely nothing.
I am wondering if it's my battery; it's a Ballistic 8-cell EVO2 that is about 7 years old and has seen quite a bit of extreme
weather. BUT, if it's consistently reading 13.3, shouldn't that be enough to power up the headlight and idiot lights at least?
Thanks for any help :)

Main relay?
I unplugged / replugged just for kicks and nothing. I'm not sure how to tell if it's good or not. Can i somehow use my volt-meter or is there another way?
+1
Check the dash cable connector too.
Any news from the fuse box?

Half expose the pins see if what goes in comes out with your voltmeter.
Pull it out and give it a shake. Any rattle? They are cheap from the auto store. If its an old original Spanish one jyst replace it and buy a spare for the tool kit while you're there.

howie will be along to confirm, but contact 30 and 87 will bypass it.
OKAY, i don't care what everyone says - y'alls are geniuses [laugh]
it worked! i unplugged the relay (no rattle), plugged it back in and Voila! Lights and all - fired right up. I then gave the terminals a short blast of
DeoxIT 5 for good measure.
Good To Go! THANK YOU all.... much appreciated. Electrical stuff is my least favorite type of troubleshooting

Dont trust it though. Get a couple from the auto shop. Maybe corrosion or loose internal connection.
Where's Howie?
We can't diagnose and declare an issue 'solved' on our own. It doesn't work that way. It just doesn't [bang]

;D True.

We're nor worthy. ;D
Seems y'all got along fine without me. I would get a new relay though. Cheap enough.
Thanks for the praise, but I can be as dumb as anyone else. I moved the snow blower from it's summer home (shed) to it's winter home (garage). I figured I might as well make sure it starts and runs. Opened gas cap, looked in gas tank. Crank crank crank, no start. Take sheet metal off to get to the carb. All good. Looked in gas tank again, but this time with strainer out. No gas. Put gasoline in, VROOM [bang]
;D
