Title: Ducati s2r1000 switching display
Post by: Alexaskmo on April 08, 2020, 06:22:37 AM
Dear all!

So I’m hoping to upgrade my instrument cluster with a new display. Looking at a scrambler 2016 display but open to a lot of other options. My question to you is what do I need to think of when setup up the new display, of for example I went for a Ducati scrambler 800 2016 display on my Ducati s2r 1000 from 2008?

Best,
Alex

I may be wrong, but this is quite the epic project.
Your 2008 was using Magneti Marelli electronics, and the new bikes are Siemens, 2 different companies with two different protocols.
Someone on here that knows more about the electronics compatibility will weigh in I’m sure.

Ah, that sounds problematic :) if it is possible I just want to be clear to the forum that I am willing to give it a go if anyone has been successful in the past :)

Otherwise happy to take tips on other minimalist Ducati displays that anyone know is compatible and if not I will go for a motogadget or similar (but prefer sticking with Ducati for some sentimental reason).

I’ve done four or five conversions to MotoGadget equipment.  At least three of which were Marelli ecu equipped bikes.  You’ll need to be free of the immobilizer for sure, so go find a path forward on that prior to starting this.  Also, may be helpful to have a donor harness in case things go bad you have a path back to a running bike (albeit with the gauges you don’t care for...)

The turn signal flasher is located within the gauges so, you’ll have to re-wire the LH switch for that (but, the OE switch can be re-used...)

Also, I’m NOT the only one who’s done this work.
