Title: Monster 1100 EVO Cams
Post by: duc_racer on September 01, 2020, 08:30:17 PM
I have a 2009 Monster 1100S. Does anyone know if cams from an '11 - '13 1100 EVO will go into an '09 or '10  pre-EVO without needing EVO rocker arms?
Also, does anyone know the cam timing for an EVO? I would like to compare it with my engine.
Thank you very much all.

There were changes to the Evo combustion chamber and piston for more compression, so I don't know about piston to valve clearance or rocker ratio. Kamna in Germany have a "sport" cam for the 1100DS and the dyno results look promising. It appears this cam is an attempt to give a good compromise between mid range grunt and peak hp.

A local tuner here found 4-5 peak hp difference between DS and Evo bikes sharing the same intake mods and careful dyno tuning but the DS bikes had significantly more low and midrange torque. Differences with air boxes between models can bridge the gap and flywheel weight may affect engine character as much as cam profile.

Tell us what you're looking to gain for your bike. What kind of riding you do?
