This has got to suck, going for a ride, then "accidentally" getting run over and killed by your wife.
wow thats horrible!
I can't imagine what she's going through right now...
wow. poor bastard
He was in his sixties, nice custom bike, nice corvette... probably enjoying retirement with his wife of many years. I wouldn't be surprised if she was on her cell phone.
This is another STUPID event that shouldnt have happened. Has anyone heard about the girl who got hit by a train while on the cell phone?
There was another ped vs train in the Seattle area today. A man on a phone was hit and killed by a train near the Auburn Boeing site.
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmnnnnnnnn
poor guy :'(
That sucks. Impaired by alcohol and she'd have gone to jail. Impaired by cell phone or sheer stupidity and she gets off. Not that she'll really be able to live with herself, but still.
Assuming this is an accident, she's going to suffer enough.

yup
That's really sad.
Question for you guys:
Let's say hypothetically that they didn't know each other, what do you think th econsecences should be fro the driver of teh corvette?
Do you think that since they knew each other that the penalty should be reduced? (speaking about legal penalties here)
She should serve time.
However since she knows her, and we assume it was a complete accident, any kind of jail setence you can throw at her will be childs play compared to the time she will serve feeding her own guilt.
What she is going to need, is rehab, so someone can tell her, it wasnt her fault (if she was on the cell phone, it defintely was her fault). DIdnt myth busters do a test? driving while on the cell phone is worst than driving drunk.
They had a driver try to answer some questions via cell phone while driving an obsticale course at a ecent pace (20-30mph), then they got this chick drunk with 2 beers.
If you really think about it, how many people can have a full on conversation when driving? Ive done it, and 85% of the time, i cant even pay attention to whoever is talking.
Sucks for both of them.

Yup, established that a cell phone is just as impairing if not more so than a couple beers. The test drink-drivers were just under the legal limit of .08 (.06 and .07 I believe) and on a closed course ~

Question... How do you get hit by a train? Seriously. How? I don't get it, it's not like they're unpredictable, they're not likely to zig instead of zag or however you want to put it. I mean come on, it's near impossible not to notice you're straddling a pair of train tracks and then when a train actually does show up it's not like they're sneaking up on you all stealthy and crap. I'm totally confused by how this was even possible.
Damn those sneaky ninja trains. All stealthy and shit. 8)

I think regardless of whether they had a relationship or not she should get the same punishment. It could've been anyone she hit, just happened to be her husband. Yes it would suck that she would face a penalty even after such a loss, but it doesn't change the scope of the crime.
Involuntary manslaughter? Involuntary murder? I dunno.
