Title: 696 tremi mods
Post by: sea on July 25, 2008, 03:44:32 PM
I had the termi kit installed on my 696  during the dealer PDI. The bike since then has not run very smooth.  It has no sweet spot on the throttle. Even when I am going 50 MPH it will surge, backfire, and ping. It runs terrible at 4000 RPM.The only time it seems to run great is when the throttle is wide open or if I am going up a long hill under load. I brought it in for the first service and the tech told me thi was a problem with the new ECU. I asked him if it could be remapped and the answer was  "NO".The 696 that I tested was stock and it ran fine. If anyone is considering installing this kit I would not install the new ECU. I am bringing my 696 back to the dealer to have him install the original ECU to regain the driveabilty of the bike.

some of the bikes were shipped with a mis-wired coil... some reports are that it's 1 in 15...

The "surging" around 3500-4000 RPM is exacerbated by the Termis.

It's an easy fix that your dealer should be able to implement... Make sure they check into the service bulletin that's been issued on the problem.

Yup...sounds like you've got to get your coil wires checked.
