Putting new set of sprockets & chain on the old girl. Even ordered some flashy new flange nuts. Anyway my old JT sprocket has an indent to fit that flange. My new Superlite has no recesses for the flange. Anyone see a problem with the wiggle room if torqued down to specs?

If the flange sits tight in those recesses, much of the load will be between flange and sprocket, less between sprocket and cush drive bolts.
Without recesses the load will, or can, be between sprocket and bolt.
If torqued properly and not coming loose, probably no problem. The forces are quite great there, so parts will 'try' to move. Once they move, if they do, they wear faster.
Keep an eye on the situation, check the bolts and nuts a few times and inspect really well next time you're in there.
I'm not a mechanic, so don't trust my advice without also seeking professional advice.
If you think about it, no matter if there is a recess or not, all the load will be on the stud... either directly, or through the recess wall through the nut. The stud was designed to take the entire load. Tolerances being what they are, there might be a little movement, so I retorqued my nuts after my first ride on the new sprocket.
Yeah, seen both types. Note that stock nuts just clear the swingarm on some models and some fancy aftermarket nuts will hit the swingarm if the sprocket does not have a recess for the couple of extra mm needed.
Thanks for the insights guys. Having a bit of a problem finding hard torque specs. Checked my Synder, Hanes & owner manuals and coming up empty. Interwebz are IZ_ on Gen 1 monsters, anywhere from 25 to 34 ft/lb with blue locktite. Anyone with a hard number ('00 M750?)
Is it an 8, or 10, mm stud?

I know it says s4RS, but a 10mm stud is still a 10mm stud.
Thanks DP, bookmarked for the future. Make it to be 35.4 ft/lbs. Funny that list has the reflector nut guidance, I thought that was the first thing thrown away.
I actually went hunting in my 796 manual... they did not offer a torque spec for the sprocket bolt, which I found a bit surprising. That makes me wonder what I torqued my nuts to... ???
