Title: Need mangled handlebars
Post by: fwtcc on July 27, 2008, 06:31:59 AM
I am totalling out the bike and they aren't giving me credit for the cycle cat top triple and clip ons so I want to take them off and replace them with crap ones since it is going away anyways.  So if anybody has busted handlebars and or a top triple, I would actually pay you for them.

I've got bars, but no triple?

If insurance is totaling the bike just leave it without the aftermarket bits. That's what I did. They wouldn't give me money for anything I didn't have a receipt for, so I asked if I could take off everything not stock. They said yes. SO when the salvage yard came to pick it up at my house there was no headlight, seat cowl, exhaust, or handlebars

like they would know what is stock and what wasnt. Id take as much as i can.

Also, i do have a set of s2R1000 magura bars (pretty good bars imho) i went down on my left side so its tweaked ever so slightly, about 5 degrees towars your body. the right side remains fine. If intrested, let me know. It would be nice if i could just get them bent back, but im never going to use them again.

Depending on your insurance company some offer coverage for accessories at no extra charge. I know Geico is $500 and I think Progressive is $1000, but anyway ask the adjuster about accesory coverage. I just had my bike totalled and we were haggling over the money and I asked about accesory coverage and he said Geico covers $500 and I told him my carbon fiber fairing and saddlebags were more than that. If I hadn't asked I am sure they were not going to give me the $500.

Thanks for the info. I have progressive. The agent said they'll cover up to $1000 if I have the receipts.. but not the after market exhausts  >:(

Yeah, I reached the $1k threshold after gear mirrors and a lever.  The rest I would rather keep then just give to a salvage yard.  Especially considering the ridiculous buy back was probably due to the stuff in the first place.  $3k for a buy back.  I am still pissed about it.
