I can get a deal on some 2007 gsxr 600 front forks. Does anyone know if they will come close to working? I can make spacers for front axle no problem, and change out bearings. Just wondering if its worth it since my forks are pretty beat.
Fresh Pants has a set on his Monster.
I'm not sure what was involved in the swap.
He's in France right now on vacation, but he's popped in once or twice, so he'd probably respond to a PM.
When you find out I want to know too. I just put some 748 forks on my 750 that wasnt too bad.

if nothing changed in the front end of the GSXRs during 04-07, then i dont see why not. The swap is pretty easy from what people have said, provided you have resources to get spacers. Plus the newer bikes get Mono block brakes. You would also need to shell out $ for those as well.
if it were winter, id off my S2R1k forks for Gsxr fronts, but i cant justify it seeing i spent a boatload of money to revalve and spring my forks.
If the price was right,,, Do it. Although someone did point out awhile ago that the GSXR has a heavier front end, so spring may need to be lightened.
A friend of mine swapped out the forks on his S2R800 ('05 or '06) with GSX-R forks and is very happy w/ it.
His thread about it is here:

I'm sure if you PM him he'd answer any questions you may have.
I'm pretty positive 07 GSXR forks wont fit I think they changed them for 07. You need 04-06 GSXR forks. I may be wrong though.

Yes,
If you can machine spacers, you can make the forks fit no prob. I'm fairly certain that they're 50/54mm's (top/bottom triples) but they may have a 53 bottom, but that's easy with a .5mm shim like the previous mentioned SBK front end swap.
In terms of "everything else" fitting.
Speedo
You've got an older monster which uses it's speedo pickup at the front wheel. You'll loose that, but there are a few alternatives. All use an electronic pick up (hal effect sensor) and different gauges. The newer (2002+) monsters all use this same type pickup at the rear wheel.
Wheel/axle
This will need different bearings (call around with #'s and you'll get what you need) and a few machined spacers. I believe you need the GSXR front axle as well. note: the axle's changed on the GSXR's in 2004 or 2005. Easiest way to tell is that the newer style (what you want) has a nut on the left side of the fork leg.
Brakes
As someone above mentioned you'll get radial brakes out of the swap. If you want to spend big money there are tons of "monobloc" options like Brembo, Berringer, ISR and most of which are made from unobtainium and cost more than you'll want to spend. The Yamaha R1's from 2004-2006 and the R6's from 2005 to current, also use actual monobloc calipers.
(Just so we're all clear here, "monobloc" means that the actual caliper's shell is manufactured from one piece of material) so that it will flex less under extreme conditions. The stock GSXR brakes are 2 piece and work great. Depending on what size rotors you go with you may need to make stepped shims for the caliper/fork connection. You will also need to make a shim(s) for the rotors/wheel interface to center the rotors in the calipers.
Make sure to post pictures when you're done [thumbsup]
But....the GSXR forks wouldn't have any soul.....

PM sent. Pants back in the States. :D
I think it's probably a wash as far as doing the GSXR fork swap to the SBK fork swap.
Both require a little work, but offer front end adjustability to monsters that don't have adjustable forks.
I suppose it doesn't really matter which way you go, and it'd take a little bit of cipherin' to see which one comes out cheaper in the end. GSXR forks seem to be more common, although SBK forks aren't that hard to find. The adjustable Monster Showa forks are probably the hardest ones to find used.
One more word of note, based on pics of your bike, it looks like a pre-2000 900? The mechanical speedo drive was the tricky part with my fork swap, (clearance issues with the rotors/calipers) and I'd still like to get an aftermarket speedo one day anyway.
my buddy did this on his S4. here it is posted on TOB....

I think an SBK swap would be less work as you could keep your original brakes (as long as you got the 40mm brake mount early style SBK legs). I see these usually go for about $300 on ebay. You would need a new speedo pickup from a 2000-2001 monster or any 748/916/996/998 SBK and also the axle and a fender. Stick a .5mm shim in the lower and either bore your stock triple (cause I know you wanna keep those MX bars) or get a CycleCat on close out for $100 and get some 53mm clip ons.
That's pretty much it.
For the record. I did this mod to my monster a few years ago.
Any way you do the GSXR swap it's gonna take some fabricating.
thanks everyone. I was on my way to pick up the forks, then someone offered him 5 times what i was geting them for. I had them for 100 bucks, damn. Ill be on the lookout for some sbk forks though. Oh and i got rid of the speedo drive long ago. Thanks for the help everyone.
