Title: Stealth sprocket part# 525 pitch for S2R 1k
Post by: DucVaud on July 28, 2008, 11:05:05 AM
All,

My first post here,  ok I ordered a 525 chain with countershaft and rear sprocket 15/43.  I'm having a litlle issue with the rear one who is a Stealth.  I mounted the thing on the back and the Stealth sprocket fit like .100" offset compare to the old one.  My part number is ST736-525/43t.  Could somebody with the same setup tell me if this fit my bike?

BTW my bike is a S2R 1000 2006.

Thanks

From the Drive Systems USA site:

1000 S2R Monster
06-08
15/41
52613
14-15
50608*
35-45
51608*
35-45
ST746
37-44
525/102

you can see the part number for the rear stealth is an ST746 not 736. You should call them. I found Sprocket Center to be more helpful and pleasant to deal with at: 888-265-2141 though....

How did you get DriveSystems' website to display those data?  They are good to deal with, but their website sucks.

I got my Stealth sprocket from Motowheels.

Hmmm...Motowheels shows different Stealth part numbers than DriveSystems does.  ???  I bought what I thought was a 525 pitch sprocket, Motowheels #735.525, but DriveSystems calls the 525 pitch sprocket "746," and the 520 pitch sprocket "736."

Anyone know the different in mm in going from a 525 to a 520 pitch sprocket?

1. I got skills!  ;D Serioulsy tho, here is a direct link: http://www.drivesystemsusa.com/c/24067/1/ducati.html (http://www.drivesystemsusa.com/c/24067/1/ducati.html)
2. This is basically the depth the chain rollers sit into the recesses in the sprocket. You could run a 520 chain on a 525 sprocket and vice versa, tho wear will be accelerated and performance non-optimal.

The only difference between 520 and 525 chain is the width.

Nominally, they're for 1/4" and 5/16" width sprockets.
Actual sprocket widths are a bit less than that.

Thanks SD.  I measured my sprocket, and its about 7.5 mm, just a hair under 5/16".

I spoke with Chris at Ca-Cycleworks and he told me it's normal to have a little difference between the OEM and aftermarket stuff..So I could live with that but the thing I discovered when I chat with him is my countershaft sprocket was mounted on the wrong side!  The shoulder was mounted toward the nut not the motor!  So I drove that bike with a misalign sprockets.  Have a look at this thing make you safe $$ since I need to change now my chain slider...
