Title: Changing counter sprocket
Post by: 695LAM on July 28, 2008, 06:37:48 PM
Hey Guys,

Getting ready to change my counter sprocket.  From what I have been able to find out,  the slave cylinder has to come off to get the chain and sprocket off.   Was just wondering if there was any precautions that I need to take with the slave cylinder coming off or going back on.   Will it leak fluid when I pull the slave cylinder off?   First time,  just want to make sure I do it right. ( 2007 695)

Thanks all,
Lynda

it should be as simple as removing the 3 bolts that hold on the slave.  I swapped a sprocket w/o fully removing the slave, just loosened things up enough to work the chain off.  This was with plenty of slack in the chain so I could wiggle it around.

There should be no fluid leaks.  If there is a leak it was an existing problem and not related to removing the slave.

The one think need to NOT do is pull on the clutch lever when the slave is off.  With no pressure on the slave piston it can keep traveling out if you pull on the lever.  Pull enough and it'll pop the piston out of the bore.

Alll things said... it's easy

Just undo the bolts pull the whole thing off and swing it out of the way, no problem unless you pull the clutch lever(why you would, I don't know ;) )
