Title: What to wear with 102 degree rainy weather
Post by: Raux on July 29, 2008, 04:29:25 AM
I hate Oklahoma. It's pouring raining and it's gonna be 102 degrees. What do you wear in that? do i get wet to cool off?

I think i'm gonna chicken out and get a ride to work.

are you "stranded" at work?  If it is just one day, you can either get a ride or brave it through and changed clothes when you get home.

I hate riding while it's pouring. I did it once and it was really hard to see the lines in the road. Even small curves in the road can become really dangerous. That said, if you HAVE to ride in the rain, hopefully you have the proper rain gear. At least gloves with a wiper blade on the thumb come in handy but if you don't have that you can tilt your head to the side a bit and the wind will blow the rain off your visor if it's not coming down too hard.  You'll likely get some water down your neck doing this though but at least you'll be able to see.

And soaking wet in 102 will probably make you feel more humid than cool.  :-\ It's not chickening out to get a ride, it's being safe.

Well i didnt ride, but i did go to a shop and picked up a pair of rain pants. I have a Ducati Rain overjacket from 2000. Now i have to find some gloves and boots.

My boots have air vents so figure that wont work. and my work boots are short. the gloves hav vents again (100 degree heat, did i mention that)

Now that I think about it, I'd go with one of those rain parka things over your summer gear. I hear they work pretty well. Just throw on some actual rain gloves to keep the water from going up your sleeves.

102 degrees..... its baking, your SOAKED in sweat. and rain comes.. I dont think it would matter if you get soaked or not. Throwing on a rainsuit would probably make you miserable. Id just let the rain cool me down and be happy.

Does the rain still fall from the sky in drops at that temp?  Or, does it become like heavy steam?  I can't imagine weather that aweful.  Everyone prob stays in and watches tv.

I don't know about there, but here when it is that hot and it rains, the rain will cool the temp down by atleast 10 degrees. all in all I don't mind a bit of rain during the day if I ride to work. Usually chances are I won't get caught in it... now if it is a heavy downpour at the time then I will pull into a fastfood restaraunt and have dinner and wait it out.
