Do these things serve a purpose or is it for "looks"? Anyone have them?
need some? i have some from my M750, unsure if the size will be the same, though. you're welcome to em if you need them.
Shotgun shells [thumbsup]
I think Cory looked into the ballistic frame plugs... I think? 20 gauge I think on the S4RS?
Plugs on the SBK are a bit bigger than the Monster, Kevin are you talking about the 5 pack that AMS has for sale for the 848?

I would like to know also. I need some frame plugs for the mods we did on the monster. (Now I have to specify which bike I am talking about - that's awesome! ;) ;))
I would venture a guess to say that the plugs for the 848 are asthetic only. Covering up the mounting bolts is the only thing they would do IMO
For the monsters with a tail chop is necessary to keep debris and water from going down in to the frame and collecting
I didn't realize that. THanks for the info. Guess that makes sense though. I will have to fix that problem ASAP!
you can have my plugs, bonnie, if they fit the S4

Thanks!
I'd like to see what the SBK looks like with the plugs, but I wouldn't pay $50 for mods that don't really add anything to the bike. Plus they don't come in the grey to match the frame of the unicorn.
The monsters you can shove shotgun shells, the stock bar ends from the stock bar, or buy fancy anodized frame plugs.
Or even freebies from McK's dead 750 [thumbsup]

They have lots of installs documented and photographed. It's a pretty good "international" crowd. I know they have pictures of frame plugs in there for the 1098, but at least you can see what they will look like installed.
DLS can vouche for the good info, right? :)

What position do they play. My neighbor is a huge indian fan (like being a ranger fan), the problem is they suck!!

A buddy of mine didn't have any in his old Honda. One day he was riding down the highway with his wife on the back and a snake, yes a snake, suddenly appeared on top of his tank. It had slithered out of his frame and was checking out what was going on. He quickly, carefully pulled the bike over and got off. The snake disappeared back into the frame and would not come out. So the wife caught a ride with a buddy as he slowly motored home, paranoid the damn thing would poke it's head out again.
I never found out how he got it outta there.
So, yes. They do serve a purpose. They keep out the snakes.

That's crazy! McKraut, I need those frame plugs ASAP!
It depends on which bike you're talking about.
The monsters with a tail chop have an access area for critters to get into, just like how *** has bug spray lids over his exhausts for his scoots... they are to prevent critters.
Ducati SBKs there are no openings on the frame, the frame plugs on the SBK are to hide the engine mount bolts

Yeah, I was wondering why this took so long. Oh yeah, Scott's in NM! [laugh]
I have Remington 20 gauge shotshells plugging the holes in my chopped '97 M750 frame. Very Zen.
It's also cool when somebody spots them and realizes what they are. Makes for fun parking lot conversations.
Cheers.
