Is this a good deal? What would be a good offer? He has all the keys, but I'm not sure if he has the code book or card or whatever it is. What would be the most important questions to ask?

I can't see CL at work-can you copy and paste the ad?
it looks clean, find out the what/where of its maintenance history. i don't know how much the 695 was in 07 so i can't give a good guess to weather the asking price is fair or not. i would offer six if its clean when you go look at it.

I hope this works.

Sounds good to me, really. I'd say take it for a ride, then offer him 6k in cash.
Thanks. I made an appointment to go see it Sat. morning before the wrenching begins :). My only problem now is... if I buy it, how do I ride two bikes?? :-\

Wait until you have 4 in your garage.
The key to making it work is to break one before you buy another. That way it was purchased out of necessity. :D

If there's a will there's a way ;)
It's a good buy, post pics once you got it.
Find out if he installed the DP ECU when he put those pipes on. If not, it's running SUPER lean.
To get just the ECU now would cost you about a grand.
EDIT: I love my M695. I've put 14,000 miles on it and have had a great time commuting, riding around town, and some touring (with the DP seat). The only thing I am missing are some adjustable shocks. :/
The price looks really good to me.
Is it normal to smoke a rear tire in 3k miles? I must ride like a wuss
Good luck! Let us know if you need help picking it up. :-)

Me too. My tires were new 6000 miles before my last service. My tires were still fine. I was told that most people get new tires around 3k miles. I think it depends on the tire as well as the type of riding you do. I don't corner hard and only go 5-10 above the speed limit. It's enough excitement for me. At least I don't have to worry about [leo] [leo] to much. Now I've probably jinxed myself.

Thanks msinc. Do you have stock levers on your bike? Are the stock levers stiff? Also, what type of frame sliders do you have or recommend for the 695 (assuming I make the purchase)?

I have the stock levers, and they are quite light. The only issue is that the reach is a bit far out for my little hands.
I have R&G Racing sliders on mine. There's pictures of them and comments on other brands here:

Damn, I ride pretty hard and my stock tyre lasted a little under 10k on my 695... That is a good deal. See if you can get it off his hands for 6k.
My 695 is kinda undergoing a drastic transformation right now, muuuaaahahahahahah ;D
Hell if you want to buy a 695 I'll throw mine in as well. :) 3600 miles, full high-mount carbon Termis for about the same price. I'm newly unemployed and liquidating.
I hate to burst your bubble but thats not really a "good" deal. Its a fair deal but not that great.
I went ahead and did a quick search and came up with this.
You'd have to go to modesto but it might be a better deal. General rule of thumb for me is to NOT buy from the bay area due to inflated prices. I bought my S2R 800 (05) last year with 1200 miles on it from a guy in sacramento for 6250,
see link below..
Ask questions, be patient and best of luck.

848 for sale? :-P

No reasonable offer refused. :)
Will you accept payment in the form of a small asian woman? She cleans.
I live in San Jose. Supply of small Asian women is high, driving down prices. Cash. ;D I have about 1300 miles on the 848. It has mirror extenders and it's soon to have Pazzo levers. That's it for mods right now. Oh, and it's red. That's not really a mod, but somehow relevant.
