Title: Where to pick up a rear stand?
Post by: factorPlayer on July 31, 2008, 02:40:52 PM
Hey all trying to find a decent rear stand for single-sided bikes. Tried the dealership, no dice.  Any recommendations?

would like to find locally and not have it shipped.

yeah, that's where I got mine. Good selection, reasonable prices. In the strip mall on the SW corner of 183 & Burnet, if I recall correctly.

Jay, if you can wait for shipping, Handy Industries makes a reasonably priced SSS stand...Mine went with the sale of my Duc, but it's a good stand (bearing shaft) for personal use at a good price......

For the Handy and T-Rex stands, do either of you guys leave the bikes on the stands for an extended period of time?  I'm interested in how they hold up if the bikes are left for a week or two, not just used for periodic maintanence.

As I recall, the Handy stands seemed to get positive reviews from the old board.

I've used mine only for maintenance so, I don't know how it will fair if I left the bike on it for a week.

Frank, what is the best in your opinion for leaving the bike up for a week or so?  Pit Bull?  I still need to pick one up...

+1 on the handy stand, I use a SSS stand made by a company from Italy called Gubellini Franco. I have no idea how or where to purchase one but it looks very close to the Handy stand Paul mentions. It works really well and I have left my bike up on it for a week, time and again and  never had a problem with it.

Frank, the only issue with the Handy stand I bought was this......

1.  The carton in came in was "EFFFFFFFED" up by UPS....FedEx would never have done that (cough, cough)  However the stand was ok.

2.  The stand seemed visually like it leaned just a tad to the left..... never had a problem with it at all

3.  Ivo got a stand from T-Rex and I've had his bike on and off and back on that thing for a week at a time in my garage and it works pretty good and is very reasonably priced...

Based upon the reputation alone, along with feedback from a couple of shop owners, I have the Pit Bulls front and rear stands.  The track bike has been left up on the stands for a couple of months with no problems.

Chill's SSS stand does look fairly stout, thick tubing with a one-piece construction  If the Handy stands are anything like it, then I may look into them if I was to purchase another one.
